Job Description

The Engineering Automation Team Lead is responsible for leading and developing advanced automation solutions, enhancing the organization's efficiency through research, evaluation, and application of innovative technologies and practices.

The role requires finding and defining strategies to automate and optimize operational processes related to network, infrastructure, and security, improving organizations to become more agile and efficient.

The team leader will be responsible for managing the team projects, ensuring deadlines are met and established objectives are achieved. You will work closely with the C&I contract capabilities teams and the Delivery teams to drive continuous improvements, and commercial support for the sale of new services and projects when required. Also, for direct leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers on the development of future technologies, evaluation of technology partners & maintenance of platforms, working with delivery to deploy processes and working with the portfolio & PMO to launch new service offerings.

The team leader will be responsible for guiding and motivating team members, fostering collaboration, ensuring alignment with the organization's objectives, distributing tasks and projects between team members based on their skills and expertise, and ensuring a balanced workload. To empower and follow the professional growth of team members, providing training opportunities and mentorship to enhance their skills and knowledge.

You will report to the Global Engineering Manager, Contracts Capabilities.

Key responsabilities:

·       Close collaboration with engineering leaders to create unified, energized, and high-performing automation solutions.

·       Provide mentoring, career planning/management, feedback, and direction to a direct team of engineers.

·       Collaborate closely with other functions inside and outside of the Engineering team to drive the communication and collaboration required to develop new technologies, maintain platforms, remove technical barriers, and help ensure the success of assigned service launches. 

·       Close collaboration with peer engineering leads and project managers to roll out agile best practices and help build best practices around technology evaluation and maintenance.

·       Leading the evaluation of best practices and innovative solutions available in the market.

·       Help support multiyear technical roadmaps and cultivate innovation within the automation team.

·       Execute engineering development responsibilities for assigned service launches & initiatives.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 8 years of experience developing, and using automation technologies.
  • Experience and proven results in an automation engineering role.
  • Previous people management is a plus but not required if candidate can demonstrate experience in leading indirect teams. 
  • Ability to successfully lead across organizational boundaries, including management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to lead diverse and cross-functional groups, including outside vendors.
  • Strong team orientation, both internal and external, with the ability to coach and mentor regardless of reporting relationships.
  • Ability to analyze issues and develop and deploy solutions within a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including speaking in front of small and large groups
  • Strong time and project schedule management skills required to consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong technology development experience with emphasis on technology evaluation, working with technology vendors, passion for innovation, and development of solutions that maximize scale & security of solutions.
  • Industry-specific knowledge, including current technology trends and future technology direction.
