Purpose
As an Automation Engineer in shift rotation, you will be a key contributor to TM2’s high performing Operations team, ensuring 24/7 operational excellence in a semi-automated container terminal environment. Your primary mission is to maintain the availability, reliability, and stability of the automation and control systems of our main assets—Quay Cranes, Automated Stacking Cranes, and Shuttle Carriers. Working from the Integrated Operations Center (IOC), you will collaborate closely with Asset Management (AM) and Information Technology (IT) teams, acting as a frontline responder in troubleshooting, coordination, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Shift-Based Operational Support:
- Provide real-time automation support during shift hours within the IOC.
- Monitor system alarms, interfaces, and automated process flows for cranes and yard equipment.
- Lead Level 1 troubleshooting and escalate issues to L2/L3 where applicable.
System Availability & Incident Management:
- Detect, diagnose, and resolve control system anomalies, software faults, or
- field issues.
- Support the terminal’s Incident Response Process, ensuring fast recovery with
- minimal impact.
Coordination & Reporting:
- Ensure effective cross-functional communication during shifts (Operations, AM,
- IT).
- Conduct thorough shift handovers with detailed reporting on incidents,
- downtimes, and interventions.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer:
- Maintain accurate shift logs and troubleshooting documentation.
- Support creation and update of system documentation including diagrams,
- SOPs, and test protocols.
Who we are looking for
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electronics, Computer
Science, or related fields. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in industrial automation systems support or control
- system engineering.
- Hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA systems (Siemens S7, B&R, WinCC,
- etc.).
Technical Skills:
- PLC programming (LAD, STL, SCL, FBD)
- SCADA/HMI (WinCC, Ignition, Factory Talk, Automation Studio).
- Drives and motion systems (Siemens Drives, Simotion).
- Communication protocols (Profinet, Profibus, CAN-Bus, TCP/IP, ASi,
- Drive-Cliq).
- Control panel hardware design and IEC/CE standards knowledge
Key Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Clear and structured communication—verbal and written (English required).
- High level of situational awareness in an automated operational environment.
- Team player with strong coordination and escalation discipline.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts (24/7 operation)
