You will be joining Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEx), which is responsible for all major expansion activities within aseptic production, solid dosage forms, finished products, fill & finish warehousing, and QC across all production areas in Product Supply. The area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT, which globally employ approx. 20,000 of Novo Nordisk's 50,000 employees.
FFEx is a newly established and growing area with the responsibility to design, plan, and build all new aseptic filling capacity across Novo Nordisk to serve the needs of millions of patients. We do it by rethinking our production facilities with the use of modern technology, as we are setting the standards for the aseptic production of the future. Facilities designed today which we will still be proud of 20 years from now. FF Expansions has a global approach, where you will be working with multiple sites and cultures across the world.

The Position
Work with business stakeholders and/or project team and vendors to ensure process control systems for existing and/or new equipment and processes are in alignment with local and global standards. Work with equipment vendors to spec equipment IFA's and requirements ensuring the equipment is ability to connect to and be used in local manufacturing meeting all requirements through people & equipment focus, as well as serving as gatekeeper for standards.

Essential Functions
- Support plans to maintain & improve process control systems
- Schedule & execute plans in coordination with manufacturing schedules
- Operate as automation resource on projects that involve process control systems
- Own self-development & initiative to understand the site process control systems
- Adhere to the automation standards & implement the necessary changes to the automation-related specifications & maintenance plans
- Support audits & inspections for process control systems
- Utilize the appropriate cLEAN® tools within the main areas of Systematic Problem Solving, process improvement, & project management
- Operate within compliance with a Quality Mindset that focuses on risk management & mitigation
- Implement effective change management
- Support Corporate, PS, local IT, & local stakeholder initiatives & projects
- Participate in the development of new SOPs, best practices, and maintenance procedures
- Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Other accountabilities, as assigned
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Qualifications
As this posting is for multiple automation engineer positions, job title and grade will commensurate with candidate's experience and job description requirements.
Automation Engineer I:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field of study from an accredited university required:
- May consider an associate's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university with a minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, &/or packaging systems required
- May consider a High School Degree/GED with a minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, &/or packaging systems required
- Minimum of three (3) years engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, &/or packaging systems required
- For Logistics roles only: Warehouse automation equipment a plus (Automated storage and Retrieval Systems, Automated Guided vehicles, Autonomous Mobile Robots, and Conveyor systems)
- Knowledgeable in the following technologies: SAP EM, PLC, DCS/SCADA, MES, Oracle, MS SQL (databases), Historian, general controls a plus SAP EWM a plus
- Proven expertise in planning/organization/execution of engineering activities a plus
- Ability to follow-up on results & revising the work plan for moderately complex problems being resolved by cross functional teams a plus
- Ability to translate high level direction into actionable tasks that deliver results using cLEAN® / Six Sigma methodologies a plus
Automation Engineer II:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/related field of study from an accredited university required
- May consider a minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, &/or packaging systems required
- May consider a High School Degree/GED with a minimum of nine (9) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, &/or packaging systems required
- Minimum of five (5) years engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility, &/or packaging systems required
- For Logistics roles only: Warehouse automation equipment preferred (Automated storage and Retrieval Systems, Automated Guided vehicles, Autonomous Mobile Robots, and Conveyor systems)
- Knowledgeable in the following technologies: SAP EM, PLC, DCS/SCADA, MES, Oracle, MS SQL (databases), Historian, general controls a plus SAP EWM a plus
- Ability to demonstrate proven expertise (e.g., project management) in planning/organization & project execution, follow-up, & completion required
- Ability to translate high level direction into actionable tasks that deliver results using cLEAN® / Six Sigma methodologies a plus
Automation Engineer III:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering related field of study from an accredited university required
- Minimum ten (10) years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility &/or packaging systems required
- For Logistics roles only: Minimum three (3) years of Warehouse automation equipment experience required (Automated storage and Retrieval Systems, Automated Guided vehicles, Autonomous Mobile Robots, and Conveyor systems)
- SAP EWM highly preferred
- Experience troubleshooting automation & control systems & batch processes required
- Experience working in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment required
- Knowledgeable in SCADA (i.e. iFix, Ignition, FactoryTalk), PLC & HMI (Rockwell/AB, Siemens, etc.), historian/data collections required
- Programming & configuration of process control systems required
- Windows based operating systems & associated applications required
- System interfacing & integration & user access management required
- Virtual machines/environments (preferably VMWare) preferred
- Knowledgeable in Oracle, MS SQL preferred
- IT competencies to an understanding level: domain, networking, firewall, group policies/permissions, system backup & restore preferred
- Knowledgeable in MES (PAS-X, etc.); MS SQL, databases preferred
- Proven expertise in planning/organization & project execution required
- Strong in following up on results & revising work plans required
