About EpiSci

EpiSci, an Applied Intuition company, develops next-generation, tactical autonomy solutions for national security problems. EpiSci’s autonomy software is technology agnostic, operationally informed, tactically relevant, and has piloted swarms of uncrewed aerial systems and tactical fighter aircraft. Additional applications include crewed-uncrewed teaming for air dominance, cognitive sensors, and networks for advanced communications systems, as well as battle management command and control for informed decision-making. EpiSci delivers unmatched speed, cost-efficiency, and scalability as the preferred partner for defense agencies and industry teams seeking mission-critical autonomy solutions.

About the role

As an ATR Engineer on the Networked Collaborative Autonomy team, you will create industry-leading ATR for air-to-ground, ground-to-air, and air-to-air use cases. You will deploy your models onto the most powerful NVIDIA edge hardware, directly powering decision-making systems affecting real live flights. Your work will be expected to rapidly transition to true battlefield environments to aid the warfighter and protect the national security interests of the United States.

At EpiSci, you will:

  • Train state-of-the-art machine learning models for 2D object detection on a variety of sensors, altitudes, look angles, and environmental characteristics
  • Develop and train advanced multi-frame, multi-object object detection and tracking models for a variety of objects and tasks, including occupancy grid prediction, semantic mapping, and in-network tracking capabilities
  • Generate extremely large quantities of synthetic imagery using state-of-the-art simulation engines
  • Rigorously test ATR models for very high accuracy, very low false positives, and extensively evaluate performance to establish trust with DoD partners
  • Optimize and deploy your ATR models on NVIDIA Jetson hardware, targeting faster than real-time throughput and very low latency, using NVIDIA Nsight and other tools to obtain maximum speed
  • Fly your ATR models on real unmanned autonomous vehicles (UAVs), where your ATR models feed directly into decision-making capabilities affecting the swarm at large
  • Analyze and debug failure modes in ATR models, using best-in-class simulation and tooling to ensure high performance

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Robotic Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field
  • 3+ years of experience building and deploying computer vision models for 2D object detection and tracking
