ABOUT THIS ROLE

First-level software engineers will be part of the Apex Leadership & Development Program (ALDP), a cohort based, early career program designed to enable success through an intensive 6-8 week cross-functional training program focused on exploring the financial services industry and technology teams across Apex. The program is designed for recent college graduates and will provide ongoing education and career development opportunities. 

 

As a Security Engineer I at Apex Fintech Solutions, you are free to explore unique solutions and try fresh ideas that may benefit our financial services and trading businesses, and our investment companies. You’ll collaborate with some of tech’s sharpest minds to solve the firm’s ever-changing but exciting challenges. Apex engineering teams are charged with building the services our clients love and are at the heart of our future product innovations. Apex has begun its transformation from on-premise infrastructure to the Public Cloud platforms, and our team is responsible for transforming our products into the next-generation clearing platform that will lead our industry for years to come. 

This opportunity is expected to begin late June 2025. 

 

You’ll be responsible for: 

Working with a variety of languages/frameworks, such as Java, Go, Python and technologies such as RDBMS, Kubernetes, and Docker, various Public Cloud Platforms 

Collaborate with development teams to design and implement secure software architecture and coding practices. 

Perform regular security assessments, including static and dynamic code analysis and penetration testing, to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies. 

Track, prioritize, and manage vulnerabilities discovered in applications, and work with stakeholders to resolve them promptly. 

Review source code software/system designs, consult with software engineers across the organization to identify and/or avoid security issues using SDLC standards and security best practices 

Create and manage automated security testing using CI/CD processes and pipelines 

Learn from and apply design techniques and coding standards coached by our Senior Engineers

Provide training and guidance to development teams on secure coding practices, application security threats, and best practices

Attending training to learn more about the financial markets

Education and/or Experience:   

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Software, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related discipline or relevant years of experience 

  • Experience in software development skills in a modern object-oriented programming language, ideally Java / Go, or Python or C#, an RDBMS, and the ability to learn new languages and technologies quickly 

Work Environment:  

  • This opportunity operates in an office environment 3 days a week in Austin, TX 

  • This opportunity operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to start late June 2025 alongside other cohort members
