The Position
Builds and executes on tools to support U.S. Public Affairs goals, in alignment with business objectives. Manages and executes on turning policy foundation resources into talking points, white papers, slide decks, etc for diverse audiences of public affairs stakeholders including, policymakers, staff, government officials, and a wide variety of outside organizations. By working across the Public Affairs functions and developing necessary understanding of issues and audiences this position will advance narratives, messaging, one-pagers, talking points, infographics and digital content on policy issues impacting patients and the business.
Relationships
Reports to the Executive Director of Public Affairs and Interacts with numerous internal colleagues including Alliance, Government Affairs, policy, CSSI and other cross-functional teams across Market Access and Public Affairs. Interacts with external parties, including consultants working for Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI), trade associations, vendors and other entities. Interacts with internal colleagues, including those involved in forming NNI's positions on public policy issues. Position will be based in the Washington, D.C. or Plainsboro, NJ office.
Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with leadership and subject matter experts on policy team and the public affairs teams and cross-functional teams across the business when appropriate
  • Leads the development of tools including narratives, messaging, one-pagers, talking points, infographics and digital content in alignment with Policy, Alliance & Government Affairs to support U.S. Public Affairs objectives, in alignment with business objectives
  • Builds capabilities and knowledge across Public Affairs to support external engagement
  • Translates complex legal, policy and pricing issues into clear and concise written and verbal communications
  • Provides creative direction & produces original materials for members of the Public Affairs Teams, including documents, slide decks, and one-pagers - often under tight deadlines


Physical Requirements
10-20% overnight travel required.
Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is required; relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in federal or state government, the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, PR/consulting, advocacy organizations or other relevant experience preferred
  • Demonstrable experience working in public affairs or public relations, with a proven track record of development and delivery of public affairs tools and resources
  • Policy environment experience, with an understanding of healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industry issues is ideal but not required
  • Expertise developing resources to align policy and business priorities with external engagement efforts
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be creative thinker and proficient with language, messaging, and mastery of persuasion
  • Must be proficient in power point or other slide deck presentation development
  • Must have the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Must be results-focused with a prior track record of success


The base compensation range for this position is $97,000 to $157,000. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
