The Equipment Engineering group has oversight of equipment lifecycle management inclusive of equipment design (URS through qualification support and release), equipment updates (design modifications via change management), and general equipment support through troubleshooting, training, and continuous improvement. This function also maintains ownership of the capital expenditure (CapEx) process.

The Automation Engineering Department is responsible for all computer systems, network, and automation, of direct and indirect equipment to the manufacturing process, laboratory, and facility systems. Project management for information & operational technology (IOT) initiatives. Engineers with the department are responsible for working on a wide variety of systems and projects both within their respective discipline and overlapping with other engineers giving exposure to continued learning.

This is a full-time on-site position, Monday – Friday 8am-5:00pm.

The Role:

• User account maintenance of network systems, production skids, laboratory systems and equipment utilizing networked active directory
• Monitor, maintain, and repair existing production and laboratory control and monitoring systems (programmable logic controllers (PLC type systems), software, etc.)
• On board computer systems and network connections for new laboratory and production equipment. Position will first learn existing systems and then contribute to new technology instillations.
• Respond and assist with troubleshooting equipment/control system problems or connections
• User access administration for both appropriate levels of security control and user access per procedures and author or contribute to operation procedures.
• Completion of routine work orders to support health and compliance of systems and completion of deviation process for lost data or system interruption
• Support local IT project initiatives, work with local IT field services to streamline issuance of computers for IOT systems and centralize nonstandard software instillation
• Complete tasks assigned by lead or as part of project work with minimal oversight, meeting tasks intent and schedule
• Train end users of computerized systems
• Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related scientific field with applicable knowledge OR
• Technical or Associate degree in a technology/computer based or related scientific field with 1-2 years related work experience OR Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
• Related work experience or previous intern/co-op program experience preferred
• Ability to formulate comprehensive materials such as authoritative reports and/or to create/deliver informal presentations.
• Ability to cross-train on techniques across multiple groups.
• Ability to provide ideas, introduce new technology, and drive process improvements with support from team and supervisor. Work with other groups to develop, qualify and transfer methods accordingly.
• Problem solving (Lean Six Sigma) and change management methodologies consistent with establishing a culture of continuous improvement is preferred.
• Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, reading, computer use, and occasional physical activities such as lifting up to 50 pounds, with compliance to EHS responsibilities and ability to work in HVAC-controlled and clean room environments.
