POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Associate Director of Editorial Services is responsible for editing pharmaceutical advertising materials in virtually every medium (print, digital, and TV) and at every stage of development. As quality control for the agency, this role is crucial to the successful execution of projects, ensuring that every project is accurate, error free, and adheres to brand, medical, legal, and regulatory guidelines. This is a senior leadership position that is responsible for managing the Editorial Department in collaboration with the Director, Resource Management.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee a team of at least 1-3 Senior or Managing Editors, including handling all resourcing, staffing, training, and budgeting in collaboration with the Director, Resource Management.
  • Support Managing Editors in reviewing work of other members of the editorial department.
  • Oversee at least 1 launch account with the support of a team of editors.
  • Partner with the client finance team in ensuring accounts are appropriately staffed and utilized efficiently across all accounts when requested by the Director, Resource Management.
  • Manage all new business activities that involve editorial, including editing pitch decks and maintaining the new business calendar.
  • Ensure all established editorial and agency processes are followed in partnership with the Director, Resource Management.
  • Onboard all editorial staff and freelancers on both editorial and agency processes.
  • Serve as a lead resource for all FDA rules and regulations and train the Editorial and Project Management Departments on best practices.
  • Hire freelance support as needed for launches.
  • Maintain all editorial staffing for launch and label updates in collaboration with the Director, Resource Management.
  • Interviews all freelance and full-time hires and conduct performance reviews for Managing Editors.
  • Continue to refine editorial processes for the agency, adapting ways of working for different clients.
  • Serve in a client-facing capacity for all new business initiatives.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • At least 5-7 years of promotional pharmaceutical editing experience required
  • Prior HCP launch experience required
  • Mastery of Adobe Acrobat Pro and ProofHQ and experience in training on digital routing platforms
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to maintain calm under high-pressure situations
  • Expert knowledge of AMA style and FDA rules and regulations, as well as a willingness to train editors on FDA guidelines
  • At least 3 years of direct supervisory experience required
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across disciplines
  • Client-facing experience required

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $140,000 to $160,000 Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
