POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Sr. Director, the Associate Director is responsible for securing and growing major gifts in support of the ALS Association’s strategic priorities and mission. The Associate Director will build philanthropic partnerships with individuals and foundations to secure gifts at the $5,000 level and above and will carry an active portfolio of 125-150 supporters. Utilizing relationship management strategies this position will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward supporters to growing revenue and build a pipeline of major donors for sustainable revenue.

Additionally, this position works as a partner to field based Development staff who also carry a portfolio of $5,000+ donors. This includes assisting these partners with strategy development, cultivation and stewardship planning and execution, and providing support in all aspects of the execution of those strategies in order to solicit and secure support. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic professional with strong relationship management and communication skills, committed to fundraising for positive change.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Donor Development
  • ​​Identify and engage donors and foundation partners
  • Utilize moves management to build intentional relationships and thoughtful strategic plans for each supporter
  • Provide engagement and funding opportunities that align with donors’ values and interests
  • Secure gifts through active solicitation – The Ask
  • Provide prompt, personal, and ongoing stewardship
  • Maintain contact records in Salesforce and update benchmarking reports
  • Collaborate with Sr Director on fundraising strategies and goals

Revenue Goals

  • Meet and exceed Territory Major Gift revenue goals (approximately $1 million annually, with slight variations depending on portfolio) by closing strategic gifts from supporters, both directly and through field Development partners.

  • Work both independently and collaboratively to cultivate relationships with field Development partners, donors, volunteers, and the ALS community.

We are committed to making ALS a livable disease and finding a cure. Must maintain up-to-date knowledge of mission related information on research, advocacy, and care services provided by the Association to inspire giving.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A self-starter with outstanding communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully engage with a diverse staff and range of donors, volunteers, and community members.
  • Collaboration skills required to partner with field Development colleagues involved in the achievement of Territory revenue goals.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion with an inherent drive to work and collaborate with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work with flexibility in a dynamic team environment and embrace organizational change.
  • Commitment to learn and utilize new technologies to improve efficiency and implement strategy.
  • Proven track record of closing gifts and meeting fundraising goals.
  • Possess integrity, maturity and ethical awareness; ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality. 


PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The ALS Association’s pay range for this position is $74,160 - $83,430 annually.
