Job Description:

The Associate Director, Commercial Training, Rare Disease is responsible for the development of all product, disease state, competitive landscape & skills training for all field personnel within the Rare Disease Portfolio. 

The role involves development, operational planning and implementation of the full annual training program, primary facilitation of training classes, pull through of learning programs and skills training for field leadership and clinical sales specialists. The training Director is responsible for agency project management and execution of newly developed training programs, including management of legal, regulatory & medical approval process of various training initiatives. Collection of best practices from global colleagues, and US franchises are also in the scope of the role.

This role is remote eligible (East Coast / Central US) but prefer local candidates.

Main Responsibilities & Job Expectations

  • Coordinate and execute the delivery of field force training programs for the Rare disease commercial team(s)
  • Implement and enhance 4 step Rare training program, including evolution of the RARE training brand
  • Assess employees’ skills, talents, performance and productivity and prepare written evaluations with advice for improvement
  • Oversee the training in all key areas of Rare training operations, including order training materials, stocking, and shipping training materials
  •  Research new training materials and supplies that might enhance our training procedures and provide value to our employees
  • On-board new hires and assign them to training sessions; suggestions of program enhancement are expected
  • Identify future training needs and create curriculum to facilitate that training
  • Search for gaps in training material or content that should be filled to ensure a best-in-class training experience
  • Collaboration with marketing on regular bases to drive program development and implementation is a must
  • Contribute to the design, development, and analysis of training across functions and support efforts that drive improvements in field force effectiveness
    • Work closely with the HR team BOS Training Development Lead to maintain and deliver training content via the following platforms: o IPSEN Global Learning Platform (iLearn LMS)
    • ACTO rapid eLearning development and deployment
    • ACTO iPad application
    • Facilitate on boarding to other essential systems for execution (Veeva, iEngage etc.)
    • Manage administration and execution of certification
  • Monitor program budgets and upwardly manage project scope as needed
Knowledge, Abilities & Experience
  • BA/BS is required; advanced degree is preferred
  • At least 8 years of Pharma/Biotech experience, including at least 2 years in a sales role, ideally within rare disease and/or specialty
  • Prior experience in sales training function is a must
  • Sales leadership experience is preferred
  • Strong facilitation & presentation skill set
  • Knowledge of selling principles
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles is a plus
  • Background in GI / Hepatology is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical systems used for sales execution & implementation is strongly preferred (ACTO, Veeva, iEngage)

The annual base salary range for this position is $172,000 - $210,000

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentives program. The pay range displayed above is the range of base pay compensation within which Ipsen expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and demonstrated skills.
