The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transactional Contracting Expertise: Provide strategic legal guidance and support throughout deal structuring and deal pursuit, working with the deal team. Lead review, drafting, negotiations till execution of contracts, balancing commercial risks with the company’s interests and business objectives.
  • Dispute Management: Manage disputes and dispute resolution, including preparing for litigation or arbitration and overseeing settlement processes. Collaborate with and manage external counsel as necessary.
  • General Legal Support: Provide legal support across corporate matters, procurement, HR/employment laws, and regulatory issues affecting Kyndryl’s business and operations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, advising on the legal aspects of business activities to support decision-making processes.
  • Cross-Regional Collaboration: Actively engage in regional initiatives with the APAC MEA Legal and Contracts & Negotiations teams to enhance best practices, improve efficiencies, and foster stronger collaboration. Contribute to transactions and legal support while developing skills and supporting capacity deployment needs across the region.

  • Transactional Legal Expertise: Strong technical skills in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts. Manage transactions effectively, ensuring contracts align with business objectives, comply with company policies and minimize risks.
  • Ethical Standards and Accountability: Uphold high ethical standards and accountability, ensuring all legal work aligns with company values and legal best practices. Mitigate risks through sound legal judgment.
  • Proactive Risk Management: Proactively identify and assess commercial and legal risks. Provide well-considered recommendations that balance legal, business, and strategic goals to safeguard company interests.
  • Adaptability and Growth: Embrace change with a proactive, flexible approach. Continuously seek to expand legal expertise and understanding of the business environment.
  • Clear Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, translating complex legal concepts into actionable practical advice for non-legal stakeholders.
  • High-Pressure Performance: Thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure situations. Meet deadlines while maintaining high legal standards, leveraging both personal expertise and the support of the legal management team to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Team Mindset: Foster and strengthen the already collaborative and supportive ANZ Legal team, and build relationships with the wider business team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent, with admission as a legal practitioner in Australia and a valid practising certificate issued by the relevant legal authority to provide in-house legal services.
  • Minimum 9+ years post-admission experience in legal practice, ideally with a combination of law firm and in-house experience. IT sector experience is preferred, along with some regional and cross-border exposure.
