The Associate Director, Advancement Analysis and Research is key in supporting fundraising
efforts by conducting in-depth research to identify, evaluate, and qualify individual, foundation,
corporate, and institutional prospects. This position also assists with portfolio development,
prospect management, and reporting support for the broader Advancement team. The
Associate Director will develop proactive strategies to enhance prospect identification and
analysis while ensuring accurate and timely data reporting.
30% Prospect Identification & Advanced Analytics
- Using wealth screenings, predictive modeling, and data analysis, identify, assess, and prioritize new prospects, including incoming parents and alumni.
- Apply machine learning and predictive analytics to surface high-value prospects and align solicitation strategies with donor interests.
- Utilize data analytics tools to refine donor segmentation and enhance alumni engagement strategies.
30% Prospect Research & Management
- Monitor business publications, electronic data sources, and industry news to track pertinent activities and relationships of key donors, prospects, and international alumni, providing timely insights.
- Verify and qualify screening data and wealth indicators to enhance accuracy and streamline research efforts.
- Research corporations and organizations to identify potential institutional partnerships.
- Assign and maintain prospect ratings, track career movements of notable alumni, and collaborate with gift officers to develop strategic portfolios and engagement plans.
- Prepare confidential prospect profiles and briefing materials for leadership ahead of events, visits, and solicitations.
20% Data Analysis & Advancement Reporting
- Compile and analyze fundraising and prospect data to inform Advancement strategies.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and prospect lists for donor engagement activities.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of prospect data within the CRM/database.
- Design dashboards to provide real-time fundraising performance insights and anticipate donor trends.
- Implement forecasting models to track engagement trends and support proactive planning.
- Generate reports and lists for staff assignments, donor visits, giving campaigns, and events.
10% Professional Development & Collaboration
- Train Advancement staff on leveraging data analytics to drive fundraising strategy.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative leaders to identify new prospects and institutional connections.
- Stay current on industry best practices through professional development and conferences.
- Supervise and mentor work-study students assisting with prospect research.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the overall mission of the Advancement Office.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in prospect research, fundraising analytics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in research tools, databases, and financial analysis techniques.
- Proficient in fundraising customer relationship management databases and supporting technologies (e.g. Blackbaud, Salesforce, GiveCampus, Evertrue).
- Experience with Workday systems preferred
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to quickly understand and remember details about donors and projects.
- Must be able to handle sensitive material confidentially.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines while being flexible to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.:
