Mintel is looking for an Associate Data Analyst to support our custom solution delivery. This role sits in the intersection between Mintel’s data science research team and our client-facing teams to create advanced analytics and data science deliverables directly for some of the world’s largest consumer goods companies and more. This role is perfect for someone with experience working with SQL who is looking to grow both their hard skills in Python, SQL and data science concepts while also staying close to business partners and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for this role will have up to one year of experience within data analytics or equivalent leveraging data to support business questions.  Having worked with data science teams, exposure to stakeholder management and/or in a client facing setting (such as consulting) is a bonus.

This is a Hybrid position based in Chicago.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • You will collaborate with the regional lead, data scientists, other data analysts and Mintel’s client-facing teams to support the build and delivery of custom analytics reports and deliverables for Mintel’s clients via consulting engagements.
  • You will become well-versed in Mintel’s data and Mintel’s analytics capabilities: helping to expand their use in our products and services while also helping to shape ongoing innovation and evolution of those capabilities.
  • You will fetch data as needed from Mintel’s data warehouse (SQL and Snowflake), mine that data for insight using Python Jupyter notebooks and established methodologies built by Mintel’s data science team, develop value-add data visualizations using Python graphing libraries and BI tools.
  • You will develop a positive relationship with the team, our stakeholders and our clients; building relationships that allow you to identify new opportunities for data and analytics at Mintel.
  • Collaborate with members of the Data Science & Analytics team globally to ensure a consistent approach to technical developments and that continued research and development work is aligned with the needs of our clients.
  • Continually learning - as a part of a fluid, innovation focused team, you will stay current on emerging data science technologies and other quantitative techniques.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Data-Driven: You understand the concepts of a data analytics lifecycle from requirements gathering through technical analysis to delivery. You are able to rapidly organize information, draw conclusions, identify patterns, and succinctly communicate key points and translate your knowledge visually.
  • Naturally Curious: You are naturally curious, looking for new opportunities or technologies that could elevate yours or others work.
  • A Great Communicator: You are an effective communicator who can discuss difficult technologies while also focusing on the audience to tailor discussions.
  • A Collaborator: You bring an energy to the table that encourages and develops internal relationships. You seek out opportunities to collaborate with peers in your department and across the organization.
  • Commercially-Minded: You are dedicated to quality, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in your work to elevate the value of our offerings.
  • Self-Directed: You take initiative to solve problems and uncover opportunities, and you are eager to take ownership and accountability for client deliverables.
  • Committed to Personal Growth: You are committed to continuous learning and growth, constantly pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone to develop your skill set.
  • Humble: You are humble, yet confident. You willingly admit when you need help, and you know how and when to utilize the resources and people around you. You are also willing to share your own knowledge for the benefit of the team.

What We Do

Market Intelligence is what sets us apart and what defines us as a brand – literally in fact: when the company was founded in 1972 it took its name from an amalgamation of the two words. We have been defining and refining the Market Intelligence Mix ever since, to offer our clients a unique perspective on the consumer landscape ahead and a clear roadmap with which to navigate it.

So what goes into the market intelligence mix?

MARKET RESEARCH is not the only thing we do, but it is right at the core of our business. The vast range of primary research we carry out and commission is the bedrock of our market intelligence, creating data series we can assess incrementally over the long term to track trends and forecast the future.

MARKET ANALYSIS is the second key element of the market intelligence mix. Our specialist team of market analysts scours the globe for trade, industry and government data, which our statisticians then integrate into meaningful sizing models and future value forecasts for thousands of sectors worldwide.

PRODUCT INTELLIGENCE adds micro-level relevance to the macro context of our market analysis, bringing our clients real-world examples of the launches and goods that are driving the numbers.

COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE is the fourth pillar of our work, keeping our clients abreast of their rivals’ strategies, communications and results, to give them the understanding they need to choose the right response to gain or maintain that crucial competitive edge.

The magic happens when we pull them all together. Trend analysts, category specialists, systems developers, dedicated account teams and client servicing staff work together to provide our clients with understanding as well as knowledge.

That’s our Market Intelligence. That’s how we help businesses grow. It’s why we’re the leaders in it.
