SUMMARY:

Old Republic Title is seeking an Associate Claims Counsel to manage and resolve title claims nationwide. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Managing title claims from states on a national level
- Claims management includes: investigating and determining coverage: correspondence with insured as to coverage and status: statutory compliance resolving title defects; directing defenses with outside counsel; negotiating settlements mitigating losses for the company, determining agent liability; and pursuing/preserving recovery.
- At a minimum, the ability to work from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Regular consistent attendance is required, that could include attendance at after hour Company events.
- Ability to accept supervision.
- Ability to foster, develop and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships. Must be able to get along with others, i.e., peers, supervisors, outside customers, and vendors.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, employees and customers by email, phone and in person.
- Must be personable, positive, and a professional representative of the Company.
- Complies with Company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and completes mandatory company compliance training by assigned deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Juris Doctor
- Licensed to practice law
- If not licensed by the state bar at employee’s office location they must be permitted to act as corporate counsel in that state
- Accurate Typing
- Must be proficient on computers. Microsoft Suite and Outlook experience and Knowledge required.
- Aptitude for processing and organizing large volume of documentation and written communications.
- Written and verbal communications are clear, grammatically correct and business appropriate.
- Knowledge of title insurance and real estate closing transactions required.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Some Travel is expected for Company events or Claims work
- Due to volume of work, incumbent must have dependable attendance.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to interface effectively and professionally with customers by telephone and in written communication.
- Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible with interruptions throughout the work day.
- Ability to interface effectively and professionally with other employees and corporate legal members.
- Ability and willingness to develop self-sufficient work station to process claims timely and cost effectively.
- Repetitive and continual typing motion is required.
- Problem solving ability to effectuate solution for covered claims.

The estimated pay range stated represents the typical pay range for this position or similarly employed employees or employees performing substantially similar work. Factors which may be used to determine the actual pay rate may include, but are not limited to, education, training or experience; seniority; merit and work performance; quantity or quality of production; regional differences in compensation; differences in local minimum wages, or ability and effort.
Position's Pay Range:
$80,000 to $100,000 annually.
