Job Summary
The primary purpose of this role is to assist with analyses or model building activities while learning to execute these activities independently. This includes following analytical best practices, analyzing and reporting accurate results, and identifying meaningful insights that directly support decision making.
This role works with internal team members to identify and understand business needs while growing his/her understanding of one or more business function.
To be successful, the individual in this role must work to develop technical skills in programs such as SQL or Python, data query methods, data merging, and data summarizing and visualization using appropriate tools (e.g., MicroStrategy VI).
The individual in this role works closely with and receives ongoing guidance from more senior level team members and manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops knowledge of how to leverage disparate data sources to answer questions for the business
- Performs more basic project analysis and data modeling with direction from others, ultimately ensuring that the final deliverable is high-quality and provides impactful insights
- With oversight from manager and others, translates a business question into an analytical model that can be utilized and executed by the business
- Assists more senior level Analytics professionals in more complex modeling and analytical projects to ensure their completion within allotted timeline and budget
- Assists one or more areas of retail operations/functions in providing analytical support and actionable insights
- Helps track measures of success and develop reports that measure operational and customer metrics for one or more areas of retail operations
- Supports test and learn efforts for key functional areas
- Assists with ad-hoc analytical requests, with direction and oversight from others
- Works with more senior level analysts to translate project requirements into analytical problem(s), validating understanding of requirements with manager or more senior level analysts
- Works with more senior level analysts to identify appropriate sources and gather information/data, using known tools, techniques, methods and models to ensure an accurate and concise output summarizing findings
- Provides input into final insights from the data analysis
- Seeks to understand common methods and best practices in the data analytics space
Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent• Basic understanding of data analysis practices
Preferred Qualifications• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Data or Information Sciences, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)• 1 year of related experience• Experience using basic analytical tools such as R, Python, SQL, SAS, Adobe, Alteryx, Knime, Aster• Experience using visualization tools such as MicroStrategy VI, Power BI, Tableau
