The Team You Will Join
This position will be key member of the Annuities line of business of Retirement Income Solutions (RIS). Retirement and Income Solutions (RIS) provides guaranteed income to individuals in a predictable and low risk way and helps companies reduce their risk and remain financially strong. The RIS business, one of the largest U.S. segments in MetLife, has a wide variety of risk solutions, investment and annuity-type products, including US Pensions, Structured Settlements and institutional income annuities which make up the Annuities business.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will provide actuarial, pricing and technical support to the Annuity business teams, evaluate risk, and ensure profitable growth. This role will support all three businesses, with the Structured Settlement business as the primary area of focus. This position interacts closely with all areas of RIS, including Product, Sales, Contract, Operations, as well as with enterprise stakeholders such as Finance, Actuarial, Risk, Investments, and Legal.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Pricing and profitability analysis of individual cases and ratebooks, which involves financial modeling of liability cash flows, reserves, and capital, providing pricing recommendations, model review, and performing sensitivities.
  • Partner with business leads and provide guidance to optimize sales and financial metrics
  • Analyze experience for pricing assumptions and monitor on-going sales; suggest, challenge, and implement updates
  • Clearly and concisely communicate pricing & calculation results to business and pricing leadership, in both written and oral fashion


  • Proper documentation of all work and models, including assumptions, processes, methodology and results; model validation and review
  • Produce standardized reporting and metrics for new sales and inforce on a monthly & quarterly basis, including Value of New Business
  • Identify and implement process and documentation improvements, automation, and optimization for both actuarial & non-actuarial activities


What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or actuarial science or related discipline
  • 5+ years actuarial experience, including at least 2 years with Annuity and/or Pricing experience
  • ASA/Pre FSA designation of Society of Actuaries
  • Strong quantitative and communication skills. Able to concisely present orally and in presentations.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with ability to focus on details. Able to quickly spot issues and develop a recommended approach.
  • Self-starter with ability to effectively manage and supervise multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong programming skills, especially with Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic, and working knowledge of SQL
  • Excellent analytical and spreadsheet skills


The salary range for applicants for this position is $93,600 - $124,800.
