Position Summary:

The Department of Finance in the College of Business (CoB) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance for employment starting with the 2025 Fall semester, which begins in August 2025. 

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong potential for high-quality research and publications in high-quality finance journals; a commitment to rigorous and engaging teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels; and the ability to contribute service to the Department of Finance, the College of Business and the University. 

The CoB is highly supportive of research and subscribes to numerous databases via WRDS, including Audit Analytics, BoardEx, Compustat, CRSP, Execucomp, IBES, OTC Markets, Thomson/Refinitiv.

New hires are typically provided summer research support for a limited time subject to budget availability. The department’s active doctoral program typically provides faculty access to doctoral-student research assistantships. Candidates with research and teaching interests from all areas of finance are welcome to apply, including, but not limited to, asset pricing, corporate finance, financial institutions & markets, investments, and international finance. A candidate with strong quantitative skills (especially in SAS, Stata, or similar) and expertise in current empirical-finance methods is preferred. Candidates with demonstrable evidence of scholarship beyond the dissertation are preferred.

The successful candidate will teach finance courses in both undergraduate and graduate programs (MSF/MBA), and, potentially, in the finance doctoral program; must maintain an active program of research and publication; and must participate in appropriate types of service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.

The department offers a BBA and a BS in Finance at the undergraduate program, required courses and electives for the MBA program, an MSF program through our Market Rate programs, and an active Ph.D. program. We also participate in the Executive Ph.D. program via teaching both the required finance courses and by directing finance dissertations. The department has over 500 students in the BBA and BS program, approximately 40 MBA and MSF students (each), and 15 doctoral students.

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned doctoral degree in Finance (or closely related discipline) from an AACSB accredited institution is required by the start date.

Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.
