This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Atlantic Fields, set outside of Hobe Sound, FL.
Atlantic Fields is seeking a Irrigation Technician to join the Golf Course Maintenance Department.
The Assistant Irrigation Manager is responsible for aiding in the repair, maintenance and operation of all phases of our golf course and landscape irrigation systems. This will include working with the Property Irrigation Manager to provide the highest level of quality in a safe and responsible manner.
This includes meeting or exceeding the established standards for our members, guests and employee satisfaction. As the Assistant Irrigation Manager, you must lead by example by taking a proactive position to all issues concerning the golf course and landscape irrigation systems.
The Assistant Irrigation Manager will be expected to bring exceptional organizational skills to the role and to have great attention to detail. They will need to be logical, methodical, and diverse in their abilities. Within this role, the Assistant Irrigation Manager will also coordinate and interact with outside contractors and vendors, and may interact with Members, sales prospects, and guests. They should possess strong interpersonal skills no matter who they are interacting with and should be able to lead with clear direction and encouragement.

Key Responsibilities
• Identify and correct performance problems and complete repairs/adjustments to system components which include heads, valves, pumps, pipe, wire, tubes, fittings, pump house, computer operation system, filters, water enhancement system, valve boxes, quick couplers, and controllers.
• Implement a thorough Preventative Maintenance program for all system components
• Maintain up-to-date as-built and databases
• Maintain daily, monthly, and annual records for water, and water enhancement products usage.
• Consult with Property Irrigation Manager on daily water requirements and set-up daily irrigation run times. This communication to be open minded.
• Be proactive in anticipating water requirements according to weather and plant needs
• Possess knowledge of departmental budget
• The Assistant Irrigation Manager directs the functions of and assists the Irrigation Specialist
• Review operational challenges and encourage Irrigation Specialist to recommend solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of irrigation system components
• Three years proven experience at a high-end private club or work equivalent.
• A strategic forward thinker who acts with purposefulness and speed and is committed to championing new ideas, strategies or concepts, to ensure projects reach a successful launch.

Ÿ Strong communication and relationship-building skills to efficiently support and connect with a diverse team and advance interests through others
Ÿ Must be extremely responsible with integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
Ÿ Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ÿ Must be computer literate. Preferred candidate will have previous experience with Rain Bird Cirrus Central Control System.
Ÿ Excellent attention to detail in all things
Ÿ Ability to take responsibility and make independent decisions to complete repairs
Ÿ Ability to operate and/or drive all equipment pertinent to golf and landscape operations
Ÿ Ability to direct staff and embrace the company philosophy at DLC Properties
Ÿ Ability to think constructively and solve problems
Ÿ Ability to set priorities and adjust to changing conditions
Ÿ Excellent human relation skills. Able to lead by example through work habits and mannerisms.
Ÿ Possess a valid driver’s license
