ARPA-H – Mission Office Briefing Coordinator

Amentum is looking for experienced personnel to expand our healthcare technology development support capabilities at the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).

Founded in 2022, ARPA-H is a Federal research funding agency that supports transformative biomedical and health breakthroughs – ranging from the molecular to the societal – to provide health solutions for all.  ARPA-H advances high-potential, high-impact biomedical and health research that cannot be readily accomplished through traditional research or commercial activity to develop solutions to society's most challenging health problems.

We are interested in individuals who have experience supporting executive-level personnel at a federal or state agency or major private sector company, preferably one focused on technology development projects.  Briefing Coordinators will provide Front Office support to an ARPA-H Mission Office, regularly interacting with Government leadership - the Office Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Director for Program Management (ADPM), Program Analyst (PA), and technical Program Managers (PMs) - to help create materials that communicate the goals, impact, importance, and status of technology development programs.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing briefing/reports that communicate scientific and technical knowledge in succinct visual / written deliverables; working with technical personnel to quickly understand technical concepts and preparing presentation material that accurately and clearly conveys these concepts
  • Assisting office leadership in developing and implementing office strategy and thrust areas; supporting the development of the annual office strategy and preparation of the strategy briefing
  • Developing briefings that communicate R&D opportunities in the mission office’s core competency areas; developing materials that describe new start concepts
  • Developing briefings for senior Health and Human Services (HHS) personnel and stakeholders about ARPA-H’s efforts and how they support overall HHS mission objectives
  • Drafting, refining, routing, and submitting briefs and other strategic communication products
  • Interpreting ideas and analyzing complex topics; communicating technical ideas via clear and concise statements for a wide range of audiences; including visual aids that help explain complicated technical approaches to nonexperts
  • Creating, compiling, and editing computer-generated documentation including technical text and graphics
  • Developing and maintaining a strong, positive rapport with senior leadership, team members (Gov and contractor personnel), and the public

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or higher - ​substantial relevant occupational experience (~12 or more years) may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
  • At least six (6) years relevant experience
  • The demonstrated professionalism, maturity, sound judgement, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for daily interactions with executive-level audiences in a dynamic, high-visibility Front Office environment
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting as circumstances dictate
  • Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills
  • Relevant experience providing presentation support to senior management in a research and development organization
  • Expertise in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word applications

Highly Desirable Attributes:

  • Background in the public health sector highly preferred, with working knowledge of healthcare related policies and procedures
  • ARPA-H experience
  • Other ARPA agency (DARPA, IARPA, ARPA-E, etc.) experience
  • National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), or Department of Defense (DoD) experience
  • Educational background in writing, finance, economics, or business

Hybrid and telework options are likely but residence within Washington, DC metropolitan area is desired.
