The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace's strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept to architecture design to performance assessment to application of space-enabled mission effects.
The Architecture Concepts (ArCon) Department welcomes intrepid systems engineers who relish tantalizing, complex challenges to apply for this selectively staffed role. If you're selected, you'll be embedded with the customer program office team as you help drive the development of a national priority capability in a fast-moving environment. You will help the team turn impossible into reality, delivering decisive national security advantages for the United States.
ArCon provides expertise in architecture methods, processes, and tools to an extremely broad range of customers, including National Space Security (NSS) and other defense programs, NASA, NOAA, NNSA, DHS, and others. ArCon staff participate in and lead architecture trade studies, architecture conceptualization studies, architecture modeling tasks, and program assessment analyses at multiple levels of complexity, ranging from prototype systems to full scale acquisition systems in the space, ground, communications, and network domains. ArCon applies disciplined system architecting principles and leads cross-functional teams to provide impactful guidance to assist our customers in making key acquisition and operations decisions.
Work Model: This position requires 100% on-site work in Greenbelt, MD, Bethesda, MD, or Chantilly, VA.
What You'll Be Doing
- Ensure the successful development of innovative systems and effective integration into an end-to-end architecture
- Guide and harmonize the efforts of a multi-disciplinary team, including vital cutting-edge science and technology elements
- Monitor and coordinate among a wide range of geographically diverse development activities
- Contribute as a member of a multi-organization team, while leveraging Aerospace's technical depth across all relevant disciplines
- Resourcefully solve vexing problems, creatively mitigate risks, and persistently overcome obstacles, so that the team delivers
What You Need To Be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Project Engineer - Enterprise Systems Engineering
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field
- A minimum of 6 years of engineering experience, with a strong command of systems engineering principles
- Experience in system or enterprise architecting, systems engineering, concept design, and/or model-based systems engineering
- Experience organizing and leading cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to execute projects or studies
- Desire to work in a collaborative on-site office environment with the customer
- Ability to support periodic travel within the continental United States
- Must have a current/active U.S. government-issued TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance and polygraph. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain additional special accesses, as required by the customer
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Sr. Project Engineer - Enterprise Systems Engineering include:
- A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience
- Experience with DoD and/or IC systems design
- Proven ability to collaborate with discipline experts to develop technical positions, provide risk assessments, and formulate courses of action
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative on-site work environment
How You Can Stand Out
- Master's and/or Ph.D. in engineering, science, or a related technical field
- Demonstrated experience with model-based systems engineering at the system and/or system-of-systems level
- Experience with DoD and/or IC systems assembly, integration, and/or test with demonstrable results
- Demonstrated experience with standards for system design, CONOPS, development, manufacturing, integration, and test
- Demonstrated boundary-spanning leadership, leveraging influence to realize integration outcomes
- Demonstrated effectiveness in a collaborative team environment with government customers, contractors, FFRDC, and SETA personnel
- Experience and familiarity with DoD, Air Force, or IC acquisitions and operations
- Experience working in an engineering matrix organization
- Exceptional interpersonal verbal, and written communication skills

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
