Overview of the role:
Based in NY responsible for supporting all systems & applications used by all the US offices front to back including (but not limited to) systems used for Trade Capture, Middle & Back Office operations, Static & Market data capture and distribution, Risk, PnL.
Confident dealing with traders and middle office, across multiple asset classes (Rates, FX, Credit, Equity, etc) familiar with the trade, static and market data required in trade flow & Risk/PnL systems.
Will be responsible for performing user training, configuration and permissioning associated with on-boarding new NY users (including trader app set up).
Point of contact for all US user System & Application queries and issues, ranging from simple technical tasks to complex business issue investigations. Ensuring timely resolution and good communication for all issues. You will be expected to form a close working relationship with development teams and UK based Support team to communicate user requirements, identify common support issues (including root cause) and recommend changes to improve future platform supportability.
Role requirements:
The role may be required to assist with some degree of testing new releases in a UAT capacity and also manage some production releases. The role will require a good understanding of the standard windows & UNIX environment and specifically experience of supporting a complex .NET and Java application suites.
There may be some a requirement to work staggered shifts to cover global trading times. There will be occasional weekend work. This role is a great opportunity for someone who is a self-starter, pro-active and keen to enhance their Technical and business skills set through both hands-on experience and training.
Experience required:
Essential Skills:
- Supporting a varied and dynamic environment within a hedge fund\ investment bank or similar with some product knowledge in the asset classes detailed above.
- Good understanding of SQL
- Good overall IT knowledge including.NET and\or Java technologies.
- Fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and a pro-active attitude.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience using & supporting Calypso environment (UNIX\Java set up)
- Experience of Bloomberg.
- Experience supporting Risk & PnL systems
- The desire to pick up new skills
Desirable:
- Awareness of Enterprise Scheduling software; Control-m desirable
- Experience of using\reading\debugging C#/Java and Excel VBA programming.
