As an Application Scientist at Zurich Instruments, you will engage with customers to provide technical support and sales assistance related to quantum technologies. Today we are supporting a large community of users to leverage our products for their research in quantum technologies. To develop further our customer base, ensure their success and to pursue new activities in the EMEA region, we are looking to grow our team of Application Scientists in Zurich or Munich.


In this role, you will work closely with our users by assuming an active, technical involvement in our sales and support activities. You will engage with existing and prospective accounts, learn about both our market and customers and contribute to our mutual success.

Your responsibilities

  • Engage in technical discussions with new and existing customers to secure future sales mainly related to quantum technologies.
  • Provide application-specific customer support in the field of quantum technologies, including on-site system integration.
  • Nurture an active network in the quantum technology community.
  • Represent Zurich Instruments at trade shows and customer visits.
  • Understand technical requirements from customers and communicate to product management.
  • Create and contribute to technical content as a knowledge source for users and for marketing/outreach.

Your profile

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a similar field, ideally related to quantum computing research.
  • Practical scientific lab experience and proficiency in programming scientific experiments.
  • Hands-on experience with quantum control instrumentation is a strong asset.
  • Experience in sales and account management in academic and industrial markets is appreciated.
  • Demonstrated excellent international stakeholder management and cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; fluency in English is a must.
  • Understanding of software architectures and familiarity with the different layers in the quantum stack is a plus.
  • Strong interest in learning about technology, applications, marketing and sales in a high-tech market.
