About This Role

Strava is the app for active people. With over 150 million athletes in more than 190 countries, it’s more than tracking workouts—it’s where connection, motivation, and personal bests thrive. No matter your activity, gear, or goals, Strava’s got you covered. Find your crew, crush your milestones, and keep moving forward. Start your journey with Strava today.

Our engineering organization is looking for a motivated and experienced Android engineer to join our Frameworks and Tools team. As an Android engineer on this team, you will be involved in the design and implementation of common client capabilities, build tooling, and automation infrastructure used across the Strava engineering organization. You will work closely with our cross-functional product teams to ensure our technology is able to address real athlete problems while being reliable and performant.
We follow a flexible hybrid model that generally translates to around half your time on-site in our Denver office—roughly three days per week.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Create the best possible developer experience for mobile engineers by using your knowledge and ensuring our tools are effective, efficient and easy to use.
  • Participate in the evolution of Strava’s technology landscape, contributing to the adoption of advanced technologies and practices.
  • Take on responsibilities that expand your leadership capabilities and technical expertise within a forward-thinking team.
  • Directly impact the experience of tens of millions of athletes.

You will be successful here by:

  • Demonstrating empathy for athletes and their experience while using Strava
  • Taking ownership of your work, and partnering with cross-functional peers to ensure services are properly scoped and implemented.
  • Building well-documented and easy-to-use systems that are quickly and widely adopted across our engineering organization.
  • Contributing to an inclusive and collaborative team culture
  • Building beautiful, smooth, delightful mobile experiences.
  • Mentoring other engineers and providing technical leadership to the team through forums like tech talks.
  • Using your in-depth knowledge of all things Android to help drive technical conversations with peers from different backgrounds, across different teams.
  • Be willing to explore and learn new technologies outside of your comfort zone

We’re excited about you because:

  • Have experience building Android applications in a production environment using Kotlin. Jetpack compose experience is a nice to have
  • Have experience working with large, modularized applications that use dependency injection tools and GraphQL is a nice to have
  • Stay up to date and experiment with the latest Android technologies.
  • Have a product-focused mindset. Our team works together to deliver projects that use technology to solve real business problems.
  • Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and everything in between.
  • Have experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques.
  • Can collaborate with Android, iOS, and Server engineers to ship features.

We'd love to talk to you about the future of Strava’s core technologies and your role in developing them. For more on Strava’s engineering team check out the Engineering Blog. It covers a wide range of topics, from how we rebuilt our leaderboard systems to personal perspectives on what it’s like to be an engineer at Strava.
