Maxar is currently seeking a n Analytic Engineer to join our team. This role will be performed in our Maxar facility located in Herndon, Virginia a nd the customer site in Springfield, VA
As a Maxar team member, you will have the opportunity to closely support our mission partners, and your work will have a direct impact on mission imperatives. In this role, you will work closely with software developers, other data SMEs, as well our infrastructure and cybersecurity teams leveraging open-source tools to create and maintain a diverse range of applications.
What You'll Be Doing :

  • Responsible for perform ing and developing data evaluation and assessment efforts .


  • S haping data engineering approaches for analytic tradecraft improvements with our applications .


  • I dentif ying and documenting gaps within our data corpus and analytical capabilities .


  • Working hand-in-hand with software developers to field requirements and provide feedback as changes are implemented into an application .


  • Working with end-users to provide SME support for various data or application questions and requests .

  • We are a multi-faceted software development and systems administration team working to build and maintain software applications backed by a self-managed cloud infrastructure with a true big-data footprint (over 12 petabytes) .


  • Our diverse background of experience in mission support and software development serves as a catalyst to solve unique and challenging intelligence problems in support of special operations analysts and their on-going activities.


  • Prototyping and frequent, iterative feedback are core to our delivery approach, anchored by a need to work quickly in support of our missions.


Minimum Requirements :

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to obtain a CI polygraph.


  • Experience formulating a repeatable process for data evaluations and communicating findings to government officials.


  • In-depth knowledge of technical data types based on previous research and work with data sets of interest. Data types of interest include Technical Telemetry Data and o ther forms of telecommunication protocol data types, including cellular and wi-fi.


  • At least 5 years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist or similar.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills .


  • Must be a self-starter with excellent time-management skills and the ability to independently manage multiple concurrent tasks .


  • Must be experienced working in fast-paced environments .


  • Experience working with Software Engineers to provid e feedback and v alidate the technical implementation for custom applications .


  • Experience working with a scripting language like Python, SQL, Spark, PySpark or similar.


  • Must be able to work on-site in Hendon, VA, with the ability to work in Springfield, VA as needed.


Preferred Qualifications :

  • Comfortable with briefing government leadership .


  • Experience conducting Activity-Based Intelligence or Pattern of Life analysis.


  • Experience applying, improving , and documenting innovative analytic methodologies and ensuring they remain up to date with the latest information.


  • Experience in a customer facing role.


  • Familiarity with Gitlab.


  • Experience working with Jupyter Notebooks or Zepplin.


  • Experience working with other intel analysts and/or special operations customers.

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $115,000.00 - $191,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
