The Analyst II in Carrier Management plays a critical role in the daily execution and tracking of freight operations across the Ahold Delhaize America portfolio. This position involves effective collaboration with all Ahold Delhaize America banners and Shared Services to ensure optimal flow and management of freight throughout the Supply Chain. The Analyst will focus on enhancing operational efficiency, addressing any freight-related issues, and ensuring seamless logistics execution.
**Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC, Carlisle, PA, Scarborough, ME
Essential Functions:

  • Analyze Customer Pickup loads for optimization opportunities and tender to carriers.
  • Verify daily Purchase Order (PO) notifications from CRP vendors for accuracy in orders, weights, dates, and pickup locations.
  • Communicate with vendors and Inventory Analysts regarding incorrect or missing PO transmissions.
  • Combine and adjust multiple POs, weights, and pickup days based on vendor input and self-identified opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Coordinate with vendors and Inventory Analysts to manage necessary order date changes.
  • Expedite urgent POs requiring earlier pickup dates, sometimes on the same day.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Analytics to identify Customer Pickup opportunities.
  • Recruit new carriers for the Customer Pickup program.
  • Handle all freight claim research, filing, and resolution for Customer Pickup loads.
  • Manage drop trailer contracts for all Distribution Centers (DCs).
  • Work with vendors to ensure timely truck loading, minimizing detention time.
  • Collaborate with carriers to enhance on-time delivery performance.
  • Provide daily reports on late Customer Pickup loads to stakeholders, including buyers and DCs.
  • Assist DCs with missing load bills and communicate with carriers regarding mailings of bills of lading.
  • Research outstanding invoices from carriers and take calls for delivery appointments from prepaid carriers.
  • Schedule prepaid loads as needed and manage POD requests with vendors and carriers.
  • Maintain and update fuel surcharge scales for various vendors weekly and monthly.
  • Train carriers on using the current Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Continuously seek the most efficient freight rates and identify optimization opportunities with Team Leaders.
  • Perform lane analysis, focusing on CPU, allowances vs. expenses, and alternative product flow.
  • Serve as a liaison for communication between Distribution, Transportation, Category Management, and Replenishment teams.
  • Execute transfers and rush deliveries as requested by Replenishment/Category Management.
  • Participate in disaster recovery efforts during natural disasters or weather events.
  • Support projects and analyses as assigned by the Team Leader, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Mentor peers and foster a supportive work environment aligned with company values.
  • Take responsibility for personal development, talent planning, and performance management.
  • Additional job duties may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the business and support our Values.


Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of the trucking industry, distribution, and replenishment functions.
  • Familiarity with company practices and industry standards at a professional level.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel, typically 8-12%.
  • Ability to embrace and drive change effectively.
  • Experience in implementing and analyzing retail business strategies using consumer insights and trend analysis.
  • Strong active listening skills with a talent for building trust across all organizational levels.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with all levels of management.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Self-motivated with a persuasive approach to presenting and executing ideas.
  • Proven ability to manage daily responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Team-oriented mindset with innovative thinking skills.
  • Experience with software programs including SEGA, DSS, LlamaSoft, WMS, PFT, Inforem, Tableau, Revionics, and MSP.
  • Demonstrated collaboration experience with vendors, transportation providers, and third-party consultants.
