The Pentagon and Multi-Domain Division provides the technical analyses needed to inform and underpin decisions made by senior leaders within the Department of Defense (DoD). We address a broad range of space-related issues to help shape current and future DoD missions, taking on challenging space-related problems on behalf of our DoD customers in areas such as emerging technologies, operational analysis, architecture, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction.
The Joint and Multi-Domain Programs Subdivision provides leadership on a diverse portfolio of work, including technical expertise and analysis-based decision support to senior leaders within the military services, the combatant commands, and multiple DoD agencies. This position will support the Department of Air Force Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communication, and Battle Management (DAF PEO C3BM) to integrate Mission Engineering with enterprise portfolio management to support the DAF Force Design process. Mission Engineering (ME) encompasses the full technical effort to analyze, design, and integrate current and emerging operational needs and capabilities to achieve desired mission outcomes. This position will inform the development of ME models, guide the development of strategy and processes by which ME informs key DAF enterprise decisions, and interface ME models and processes with other Headquarters Air Force decision-making tools.
Work Model
This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in Arlington, VA (Crystal City) or Chantilly, VA, as business needs require.
What You'll Be Doing
- Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and adaptation/modification of a variety of techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on matters of importance.
- Performs analytical studies, conducts tests, develops details of specifications, prepares details of analytical report findings, assists in planning and development of studies and design projects.
- Participates in development of program interfaces between hardware and computer systems; diagnoses both hardware and software simulation tool problems; designs improvements to simulation environments; develops and/or revises programs for data reduction and analysis.
- Performs analytical studies, conducts integration tests, and develops details of acquisition hardware/software and database specifications.
- Assists in technology planning and development; performs testing and evaluation of materials and devices; develops procurement specifications and test procedures; prepares details of analytical reports, including preliminary findings and recommendations.
What You'll Need to be Successful - Senior Member of Technical Staff, Systems and Modeling & Simulation Engineering
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced Science degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
- 3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering
- Experience with Mission Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo
- Ability to support and work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) combined with a strong collaborative drive
- Technical mindset and desire to learn new tools and approaches
- Ability to work independently and proactively to respond to a dynamic work portfolio
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required.
- Some travel may be required.
