Job Description
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Biodiversity & Habitats, we are seeking a qualified professional in ocean conservation with a proven track record in managing projects that protect marine ecosystems and advance ocean policy in Australia and/or internationally. This role requires strong knowledge of ocean conservation issues, as well as the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to drive science and community-based conservation outcomes.
You will actively contribute to and collaborate with a high-performing team, driving impact by working productively and efficiently, collaborating closely with other Focus & Enabler areas and Corporate Services as part of our matrix structure and championing our One Minderoo Culture.
As Advisor, Biodiversity & Habitats, your role is to drive end to end management of oceans partnerships, from undertaking research on prospective partners, interpreting and communicating partnership insights, systems management, and reporting on collaborations.
- Work with Biodiversity and Habitat team members to establish, manage, maintain and track collaboration data.
- Monitor activities carried out under collaborations, partnership agreements, including progress to milestones, reporting, learning outcomes.
- Drive landscape analyses for the team, including stakeholder mapping and co-designing initiatives with partners.
- Distil and analyse collaboration insights, working in close collaboration with Impact and Advocacy teams to measure and communicate impact.
- Research and report on industry trends, regularly updating the team on the latest activities and developments of Partners and organisations within the conservation space both domestically and abroad.
- Support the Manager, Biodiversity and Habitats to connect and deliver Projects across the Body of Work to ensure a net positive impact for our beneficiaries.
- Support the Manager, Biodiversity & Habitats to prepare for internal reporting and documentation including business cases, impact strategy and measurement, reporting and budget management.
- Building and maintain trusting and effective relationships with partners at national and global levels.
Qualifications
About You
The successful candidate will have strong analytical and reporting skills. Proven experience in both research practices and project evaluation to measure impact. Coupled with previous experience working in a fast paced environment.
- Experience in conservation project management, with a focus on climate change, marine or environmental projects. Demonstrated knowledge of related issues and understanding of the complexity and challenges associated with biodiversity in marine habitats. A bachelor's degree in Marine Biology/, Environmental Science, or similar, Masters preferred, with at least 5 years relevant working experience.
- Ability to develop, source, gather and interpret quantitative and qualitative organisational data, communicating insights effectively to wide variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to support strategy and assess ideal pathways and solutions with relevant data and insights.
- Ability to oversee project development and progress from initiation to completion.
- Works collaboratively in a matrixed environment, including an ability to reconcile multiple diverse viewpoints and open to negotiate across internal partners and external stakeholders (private, public, academic, etc). Influences and collaborates to accomplish work, demonstrating the ability to build trust and serve as a team player and understands the value of interpersonal relationship-building.
- Strength in identifying and resolving complex challenges, addressing relevant program and commercial needs and risks. Ability to identify when an approach is not working and take the initiative to adapt plans and a way of working in response.
