The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.
The Acquisition Planning and Decision Analytics (APDA) Department is seeking an Acquisition Data Engineer to join a diverse, innovative, and highly productive team of acquisition, systems, digital, and data engineering professionals. This growing, geographically distributed department supports a wide range of customers in the National Security, Civil and Commercial, and International Space Communities. APDA applies deep technical acquisition & systems engineering expertise and data-driven capability enablers to improve decision making to form a sound basis for space, ground, and launch system program acquisition lifecycle activities.
Work Model: This is a full-time position with a hybrid work model (3-4 days/week onsite) at one of the following Aerospace campus locations: El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA.
This position includes a cohort opportunity that will provide exposure to various acquisition and systems engineering disciplines, tasks, and subject matter experts across the Acquisition and Economics Planning and Analysis Subdivision.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, development and maintain data pipelines to enable data aggregation, analysis, and reporting for National Security Space, USSF, DoD, and other customers
- Provide software solutions that move data from its source to an internal database such as a data warehouse
- Build data infrastructure and determines proper data formats to ensure data is accessible and shareable
- Combine, optimize and manage multiple big data sources
- Implement data frameworks and/or architectures
- Employ innovative techniques to automate capabilities for rapid capture, analysis and reporting
- Develop visualizations to inform data-driven acquisition decisions
- Balance and actively contribute to multiple work assignments
What You Need to be Successful Associate Member of Technical Staff
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant STEM field
- 1 year of Data Acquisition experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant STEM field from an accredited program and 2 or more years of relative experience, or master's degree in engineering or a relevant STEM field from an accredited program for MTS
- Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++)
- Experience using Jira and Confluence
- Familiarity with databases and data management systems (e.g., relational, non-relational, timeseries)
- Familiarity with creation of data visualizations
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and able to manage and perform multiple simultaneous tasks in a dynamic environment
- Willing to travel as necessary for work assignments
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Experience creating data pipelines
- Experience using Tableau or other visualization tools
- Experience with UI/UX, back-end, or middleware development
- Familiarity with USSF and other National Security Space programs
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning, or other data science techniques
- Familiarity with designing and developing modern and modular enterprise data architecture and platforms (e.g., data lake, data fabric, data mesh, data ontology)
- Familiarity with cloud technologies, platforms, and services or cloud native application development and deployments
- An active Top Secret/SCI with Poly
We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
