About the RoleAre you looking to advance your career and flex your leadership and accounting skills in a fast-paced and rewarding organization? Join us! As an Accounting Manager II, you will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. You will maintain and oversee the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income. You will analyze financial information, transactions, reports, and reviews to verify the accuracy, review balance sheet and profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports, design, modify, install, and/or maintain accounting systems to ensure adequate recognition of financial transactions. You will be responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures. You will also manage a group of accountants including review of completed work, providing feedback, and managing workloads, hires, trains, and retains competent accounting staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the organization in planning, coordinating, and direct SAP related activities to help prioritize system updates.

  • Help the accounting team create reporting solutions to manual spreadsheets

  • Recognize opportunities to improve process efficiencies and implement them.

  • Define, plan and execute projects as defined in scope.

  • Provide regular status updates to stakeholders and senior staff.

  • Assist project teams in the implementation of other systems as it relates to SAP.

  • Work with technical resources to design, develop, test and implement solutions.

  • Strategize and develop new tools and views to support the fast-changing needs of the business.

  • Provide emergency or critical maintenance support to SAP during month end.

  • Provide input in designing end to end solution from a technical perspective.

  • Experience in Month end close and accounting as it relates to the Aerospace and Defense Industry

  • Work with systems support functions to test and integrate ERP system enhancements.

  • Assist with special projects within the accounting function, researching issues and proposing potential solutions and alternatives, discussing with key stakeholders, and ultimately contributing to improved accounting processes.

  • Own control activities within GL, maintaining a strong set of SOX-compliant internal controls.

  • Provide ad-hoc support for cross-functional information requests

  • Mentor and coach new team members and junior level staff

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field of study (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education).

  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP.

  • Extensive Microsoft Excel data analysis experience.

  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal & presentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

  • SAP accounting system experience.

  • Government Accounting Experience

  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and CAS.

  • Typically 6 - 8 years of relevant leadership or accounting management experience.

  • Public accounting experience.

Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position. 
 
We also offer a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 8%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, and more.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:$120,552.10 - $165,759.14
