This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s Corporate Office locations in Scottsdale, AZ.

The Hills Golf Club is seeking a full-time, year-round Senior Accountant to join the Finance & Accounting Department. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Complete month end accounting closing/reporting including standard & recurring journal entries, payroll entries, real estate closings, and review of detailed general ledgers.
  Manage Accounting Software implementation and continued accuracy through monthly reporting.
• Maintain accurate general and subsidiary ledgers, including reconciliations.
  Properly and continually assessing the financial conditions of the entity and its different projects.
• Prepare weekly cash balance summaries.
• Oversee homeowner related billing for milestone and change order activity.
• Monthly reporting to include sales tax preparation & filing, balance sheet & bank reconciliations, and sales commissions.
• Responsible for initial accounts payable, job costs and coding.
• Participate in the annual external audit exercise.
• Process improvement and implementation of current GAAP/FASB pronouncements.
• Assist with the projects annual budget process.
• Accounting liaison between project teams and the corporate accounting leaders.
• Provide exceptional service and communication at all times with members, guests, and team members.
• Coordinate with or assist other departments as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Four (4) to six (6) years of experience, preferable in development, real estate, or hospitality accounting.
• Prior working knowledge of accounting applications to include Sage/Timberline, TEI, and/or Jonas, preferred.
• Working knowledge of bank wires.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn about the project or product being developed.

• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
• Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and desire to work in fast-paced environment.
