ABOUT THIS ROLE
Description:
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing month-end close processes and related analysis of financial details, reporting, and financial controls functions, as well as leading and managing accounting team members and financial audits. He / She will lead projects and be required to recommend and implement ideas to improve the overall group performance. This role reports to the Assistant Controller and is a hands-on position.
This role interacts with several Apex teams, including Billing, Treasury, Operations, Compliance, and Technology.
The ideal candidate has public accounting experience as well as experience at a clearing firm or a FINRA-regulated financial business. The Accounting Manager will need solid accounting and financial knowledge, an understanding of internal controls, and strong communication skills. He / She will regularly communicate with the firm’s functional leaders, auditors, and regulators, as well as the corporate accounting team at the parent group. The Accounting Manager must be a critical thinker, analytical, energetic, and be able to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes. Strong training, review, and support skills are necessary in this role.
Work Environment/Perks:
- Must be amenable to report hybrid 2x a week in BGC, Taguig
- Monday - Friday Dayshift schedule - willing to work US hours during training period only (2-4 weeks)

Duties and responsibilities:
- Manage a team of accounting professionals responsible for preparation of GAAP financial results by coordinating the month-end close and providing accounting expertise
- Oversee financial reporting and accounting processes, including review of accounts payable, financial review and analysis, review of account reconciliations and accruals, and overall maintenance of the firm's accounting records
- Responsible for maintaining and enhancing proper internal financial controls and processes. Drive process documentation and enhancement reviews including writing, reviewing, and maintaining standard operating procedures
- Remain abreast of changes in the regulatory and GAAP frameworks that drive the regulatory reporting and financial functions
- Manage and drive positive outcomes with auditors, regulators, customers, and other counterparty relationships
- Maintain a strong management style that creates incentives for the broader team to drive hard and perform
- Consistently strengthen the processes and outcomes of general ledger and accounting systems
- Implement workflow improvements and automate processes to minimize risk, eliminate manual workflows, reduce inefficiencies, and increase bandwidth
- Solve complex operational problems
- Actively lead firmwide and departmental projects and initiatives
The skills you’ll need to succeed:
Required
- Bachelor of Science degree in accounting
- Public Accounting experience
- 10+ years accounting experience. Must have public accounting experience with clearing or investment firms, proprietary trading firms, banks, or trust companies. Preferable to also have private company experience at a similar firm.
- Prior management experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to connect and build relationships with clients, organization leadership, and peers
- An exceptionally high degree of initiative and adaptability and the ability to work with numerous and conflicting deadlines
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to seek out and implement internal or external best practices
- Strong analytical abilities and perseverance to solve problems with high attention to detail
- The ability to perform many complex and confidential tasks with speed and accuracy
- A collaborative mindset as well as the ability to exercise independent judgment
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Preferred
- CPA or equivalent
- Experience using NetSuite accounting system
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel abilities
