Coinbase is looking for a highly motivated accounting professional to join our Accounting team and play a key role in our continued growth and achievement of operational excellence.  The Accounting Manager of Platform Operations must possess strong accounting and operational expertise, an ability to communicate and work with various teams outside of Finance (such as Data, Payment Operations and Crypto Payments), and a desire to make a meaningful impact on a dynamic, high-growth technology company. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, Platform Accounting, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for reconciling and analyzing platform data in the company’s financial / platform systems. This position will impact a rapidly growing organization and offers career development opportunities for the right candidate.


What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties): 

  • Perform or review monthly close activities related to inventory cost accounting, the related account reconciliations and the analysis of ending balances.
  • Assist with the launch of new digital assets and products impacting platform accounting operations.
  • Ensure that appropriate internal controls over platform accounting are in place, to reduce risk and secure corporate assets, including developing and/or updating procedures to enhance efficiency and internal controls
  • Develop and implement scalable accounting processes to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners to operationalize new areas of the business to facilitate streamlined accounting transactions
  • With major system experience, recognize the links upstream/downstream and verbalize the impacts & reliance internal business partners have on the various functions. For example, understand the importance of Master Data Management (MDM) and how data flows through different modules and interfaces to various systems.
  • Participate in critical accounting projects, including the implementation of new system logics or enhancements.
  • Provide project requirements and coordinate, manage and oversee any testing to improve existing processes and automate any related systems 
  • Provide support for internal and external audits related to specific areas of responsibility
  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation and procedures for all tasks
  • Support ad hoc financial information requests and analyses and other special projects as assigned

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements): 

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, both public accounting and industry with minimum 2 years in a manager role.
  • Financial services industry experience such as fintech, payments and/or broker dealers.  Pre-IPO and public Company industry experience preferred.
  • B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA required
  • Month-end close experience
  • Exceptional leadership abilities - Ability to influence others and earn respect of team and business partners
  • Previous experience as an accountant in a high-growth environment
  • Experience with translating accounting conclusions into operational processes
  • A demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex operation and accounting challenges
  • Desire to exceed expectations and drive positive change in the organization
  • Operational experience with high volume reconciliations and exception resolution
  • Superior organization skills and the ability to manage high volume workloads simultaneously in a fast paced, hyper growth environment.
  • Technical data skills (e.g. SQL or similar), Netsuite and Google Suite products experience  a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate and digest mass amounts of data required
  • Individual should work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent time and self-management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and team player

Nice to haves:

  • CPA preferred
  • SQL proficiency
  • G Suite experience

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

Pay Range:

$166,345$195,700 USD
