Resource Innovations is seeking an Accounting Director of Revenue to join our growing team. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated an Accounting Director of Revenue with a strong background in revenue recognition and project-based accounting to join our dynamic team. As an Accounting Director of Revenue, you will manage the revenue recognition and accounting processes associated with project-based contracts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic oversight for project accounting and financial reporting. This position will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, legal, and senior management, to ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition and reporting for complex projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Revenue Recognition & Compliance:
    • Oversee the accounting for revenue recognition in compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ASC 606, IFRS 15) and ensure the company’s financial statements accurately reflect the performance of contracts and projects.
    • Ensure proper classification of revenues, unbilled receivables, and deferred revenues for each project.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Prepare and review detailed financial reports on project revenues, profitability, and costs to ensure accurate financial performance tracking.
  • Project Accounting Oversight:
    • Oversee the work of the project accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all project-related accounting tasks.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for revenue-related inquiries from other departments, including operations, legal, and sales teams.
  • Internal Controls & Audit Support:
    • Establish and maintain internal controls over revenue recognition processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
    • Coordinate with external auditors to support annual audits and ensure compliance with accounting regulations and best practices.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate revenue recognition processes, improving efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to the project accounting team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and ensure the ongoing professional development of team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in revenue accounting, project accounting, or financial reporting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Strong knowledge of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606, IFRS 15) and related accounting standards.
    • Experience managing a team of accountants, ideally in a project-based or contract-driven business environment.
    • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and accounting software.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong understanding of financial reporting and revenue recognition for project-based industries.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
    • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.
    • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.

Preferred skills, education and experience

  • Education:
    • CPA or equivalent professional certification (preferred).
    • MBA or relevant advanced degree (preferred).

The compensation range for this exempt position is $109,118 - $190,000. The stated range is based on a good faith estimate of the compensation range for the duties, responsibilities and skills / experience required for the position. Starting pay will be dependent on experience and internal equity. This range may be exceeded for well-qualified candidates, especially with industry experience.
