Martek Global is currently looking an Accounting Associate with the required specialized training and experiences out lined below and who also has the ability to manage a rigorous workload for our busy clients. Martek Global Services is seeking a highly organized and self-motivated Accounting Associate who will be reporting directly to the Accounting Manager and will be working as a team on all accounting and bookkeeping matters within the Accounting Department. This position is a full-time opportunity located in our corporate office in Georgetown, Washington, DC!
Position Overview:
Martek is seeking an Accounting Associate to join our dynamic team. The Accounting Associate will play a vital role in Martek's Accounting Department, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive support in various accounting and bookkeeping functions, ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes within the organization.

Responsibilities:
In this position, responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:

  • Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Provide bookkeeping assistance for Martek and affiliated entities.
  • Manage corporate credit card accounts.
  • Assist in generating various financial reports.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end book closings.
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with Martek's payroll function and serve as backup to the Staff Accountant.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Previous internship experience in accounting.
  • One year of experience in an accounting role preferred.

Additional Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in a fast-paced office environment supporting diverse internal customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Resourcefulness and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Capacity for independent judgment and initiative.
  • Integrity in handling confidential information.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in a government contracting environment is a plus.
