Reporting to the Controller, we are seeking to fill a temporary 18-months position of Accounting Analyst. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reconciliations, and other functions related to these accounting cycles.
Location: Montreal office (hybrid 3-days in presence)
Duration: Temporary 18-months with benefits (maternity replacement)
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitor and sort incoming payables.
- Validate the invoice approval workflow, ensuring that invoices are approved in accordance with authorized limits and promptly resolving any errors that may arise in the process.
- Process all entries in a timely manner to ensure prompt payment to suppliers and avoid any potential delays.
- Validate that all recoverable taxes, such as GST, QST, HST, FET, and VAT, are correctly coded.
- Validate payments are issued in the proper currency.
- Update and confirm the supplier database, including the setup and update of suppliers' banking coordinates.
- Perform audits, code general ledger entries, and input trade payable invoices into Workday.
- Respond to supplier inquiries and internal inquiries from all departments related to coding, suppliers, invoices, and invoice requests.
- Follow up on past due items appearing on suppliers' statements.
- Process electronic payments in a timely manner to avoid payment delays (Wire, ACH, EFT, Interac E-Transfers).
- Ensure the accuracy of bank transmissions.
- Trace wire, EFT, and ACH payments at the bank when payments are not completed as expected and provide required information on bank investigations.
- Create new customers.
- Monitor and sort outgoing receivables.
- Prepare invoices and ensure accuracy and completeness of the billing function.
- Perform month end bank reconciliations.
- Engage in the month-end process to ensure accurate and timely completion.
- Ensure compliance and prompt communication with external partners on tax related information through coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Reconcile various AR/AP accounts.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis in support to the controller.
WHAT YOU BRING | THE PERSON
The ideal candidate has:
- A university degree in accounting or a combination of studies and relevant experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Sales Tax knowledge (GST, QST, HST).
- Workday experience or any other ERP system.
- Experience in a fast-paced, corporate work environment.
- Highest standard of attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
