This responsibility requires that we be service-oriented relative to the financial needs of all departments while still assuring that all transactions adhere to Kinexus Group policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and rules established through various federal, state and local fund sources.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
The Accountant is a key player within the internal finance/fiscal team. This position works closely with Controller and CFO to meet the desired outcomes above.
- Ensures the integrity of financial data in the accounting system is in compliance with Federal, state and local government accounting standards.
- Complete grant reporting accurately and timely based on schedule.
- Generate grant time and effort analysis report for grant decision making.
- Collaborates on initiatives and projects, performing special reviews, reports, and analyses for new and existing business ventures or programs.
- Staying up to date on current OMB circulars and state/federal/local policies and regulations related to the Workforce System, with supplemental financial requirements of all funding sources.

- Ensure the full integration of the finance team within the larger Kinexus Team to reduce duplication of effort, streamline services, and maximize all resources in support of the right service at the right time.

- Individual task and separation of duties chart is outlined in a supplemental document, which is updated regularly to reflect current operating requirements and resources.
OUR DESIRED OUTCOMES:
General daily operations of the finance department that includes a wide variety of accounting-related activities including but not limited to: treasury management; grant reporting; assisting with internal month-end close and financial reporting; and assisting with external fiscal monitoring and audits.
- Cash Management: monitor cash balances and request cash for grant funds (MARS)and manage cash receipts process. Review and approve program and subsidiary invoices prior to submission to respective vendor or subsidiary management.
- Support accounts payable process-approving invoices for payment
- Support online banking activities such as ACH payments, EFT transactions and Positive Payment
- Credit Card Administrator
- Assist with the monthly financial statement close out and complete or review month end reconciliations.
- Prepare reporting for various state and federal programs and monitor compliance
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and close out reports for public and private grants
- Provide financial information for quarterly program grant reports as required.
- Support annual single audit and fiscal monitoring by funding agencies.
- Setup new grants in accounting system
- Back up to process payroll and related benefits on a bi-weekly basis.
- Assist Controller as needed with financial systems, month-end and year-end close process including the preparation of monthly balance sheet and grant account reconciliations.
- Support day-to-day fiscal operations, support of program and grant accounting ensuring that expenditures are aligned with grant or program budgets and comply with applicable government regulations.
- Assist with the preparation and compilation of monthly financial statements
- Assist with budget creation and management
- Attend meetings and training as required.
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in the areas of accounting, finance, or a related field or equivalent combination of training and/or experience
- Three years of experience in accounting with at least six months of experience in payroll preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, general business practices, and project management.
- Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures
- Ability to both think critically and execute tactically.
- A strong business acumen with attention to detail.
- Spreadsheet proficiency.
- Must be a self-starter, work with a minimum of supervision.
- Must have good interpersonal skills, the ability to organize, prioritize and maintain confidentiality, build relationships and the ability to work in team environment.
PREFERRED EXPEREINCE:
- Three or more years of experience in an accounting or business analyst role.
- Nonprofit, workforce, or economic development experience.
- Grants management or fund-based accounting expertise.
- Work with the Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT accounting system.
