Summary/Job Purpose:
Accountant prepares month-end general ledger close journal entries and supporting reconciliations. Performs monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement reporting using available technology. Drafts internal financial reports and supporting analytics for division management. Supports special projects and corporate initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Records underwriting activity (programs) from external sources on a quarterly basis; this includes journal entry preparation, account reconciliations and researching and documenting all fluctuations.
- Review documents/spreadsheets related to underwriting activity from external sources prepared by outsourcing partners and communicate results of this review.
- Preparation of regulatory reporting schedules for NAIC Annual Statement for three insurance companies including: Page 14s, Schedule P for assigned programs, Jurat pages, Combined annual statement schedules and other schedules as assigned.
- Preparation of regulatory reporting schedules for NAIC Quarterly Statement for three insurance companies including: Part 3 for assigned programs, by line and by state schedules, Jurats and other schedules as assigned.
- Participate in Financial Audits and respond to all applicable audit requests timely and accurately.
- Prepare all assigned state annual/quarterly statement filing requirements.
- Process ceded payments when due through internal payment system.
- Apply cash receipts/payments in reinsurance system as needed.
- Document and maintain all procedures documentation for assigned responsibilities.
- Participate in special projects as needed.

Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required
- Property and casualty insurance experience preferred
