Where You’ll Work – Contractor Equipment Division (CED)

The Contractor Equipment Division makes sprayers that apply paint to walls and other structures, with product models for users ranging from do-it-yourself homeowners to professional paint contractors. Contractor equipment also includes sprayers that apply texture to walls and ceilings, highly viscous coatings to roofs, and line markings on roads, parking lots, athletic fields and floors.

The future of CED is bright, with significant investments being made across the business; the division is expanding to accommodate increased demand and growth driven by an investment in new products and innovative ideas. With the global industry ramping up into high gear, CED is positioned to convert contractors accustomed to manually applying paint and other coatings by brush-and-roller to spray technology.

Job Purpose

The Contractor Equipment Division (CED) Paint Store Channel Account Representative (Sales Trainee) is responsible for the sales growth of CED products through the paint store distribution channel. The CED Account Representative will manage existing accounts and establish new distribution as required in an assigned geographic area.

Job Results Areas:
Sales growth through the paint store channel. Graco market share growth. Distribution channel management and development of paint store channel service centers to support CED product sales. Product knowledge and training. End-user contact. Communication and administration. Expense management.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain and grow sales in assigned geography and accounts.

  • On-going account activities to include:  checking store inventories, assisting with store orders, participating in distributor end-user selling events, continuous demonstration of products to store personnel and outside paint store sales reps

  • Assist in merchandising existing product lines, new product rollouts, and new store set-ups.

  • Conduct formal product knowledge training for paint store channel distributor personnel.

  • Keep store personnel and outside paint store sales reps updated on new product information, programs, promotions, and product features and benefits. 

  • Identify issues that may affect sales growth and make suggestions to regional management. 

  • Implement marketing and sales programs as required.

  • Conduct in-store and outside-store demonstrations on products and applications to educate end-users.

  • Identify, establish, and maintain a network of paint store channel service centers within the defined territory to service the end-user customer base.

  • Provide product training, demonstrations, and sales support for paint store channel service centers on CED products.

  • Develop and submit a time and territory plan that supports the sales plan as required by the regional manager.

  • Maintain a database via Salesforce.com CRM of all daily activities.

  • Maintain demo equipment and expense accounts within defined limits.

  • Submit timely and complete reports, including daily activities, monthly territory summary reports, and expense reports.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, marketing, or equivalent. 

  • Sales experience.

  • Effective demonstrating and coaching skills.

  • Effective oral, written, and presentation skills.

  • Evidence of mechanical aptitude.

  • Basic computer competency.  Familiar with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, or equivalent.
    Willingness to travel.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Graco CED product knowledge.

  • Outside sales experience calling on paint store channel.

  • Training experience.
