Position PurposeUnder general management, build and maintain a base of producers by successfully marketing Personal Umbrella. Develop long term relationships and repeat business by meeting the needs of the distribution partner with superior service, personal attention and competitive product offerings. Continually make in-person sales calls to ensure territory premium growth. Gather and analyze market intelligence on main competitors.Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the distribution and promotion of insurance products in a specific market.
  • Identify and appoint new distribution partners. Build a base of agency prospects via telephone, email, and on-site visits in order to successfully market and grow insurance product premiums.
  • Identify key contacts within the agencies and establish a relationship as a trusted adviser. Develop long-term relationships and repeat business by meeting the needs of these agents with superior service, personal attention and responsiveness.
  • Create a database for prospects and existing agents that includes information regarding contacts, production, agency management system, and call notes.
  • Set and manage agency production goals. Identify trends in production and report findings to the Product Director.
  • Work with the Product Director to develop and manage commission compensation plans.
  • Source affinity partnerships, negotiate contracts, and manage their implementation.
  • Manage agent product and system training
  • Monitor and report on competitive changes in the marketplace including changes to rate, product, underwriting, and agency compensation models.

Education & ExperiencePrefers a bachelor’s degree in marketing, insurance, or a related field and 3+ years of experience in a similar field or position. Valid P/C Agents Insurance License required. Other insurance designations a plus.Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

  • Ability to use analytical methods in insurance sales to find workable solutions for customers.
  • Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to management on insurance sales matters.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with potential customers on insurance options.
  • Creativity in solving issues and problems.
  • Ability to build, foster and maintain positive, professional customer relationships
  • Willingness to develop in depth understanding of RLI business.
  • Ability to travel 30%+ of the time.
  • Ability to have constructive conversations with under performing producers.
  • Familiarity with rating software and agency management systems.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

Compensation OverviewThe base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future. Base Pay Range$59,933.00 - $84,925.00
