Your Responsibilities
As an Operations Engineer for John Deere in Moline, IL, you will:

  • Add Designed and implemented new features/code to improve the performance and capabilities of the software application;
  • Participated in discussions/decisions regarding future software engineering direction and evaluation, prioritization, and elimination of technical debt;
  • Supported, evaluated, and continuously improved technology and business processes to maintain alignment with business plans;
  • Provided expertise to address complex and crucial technical problems concerning the software application's functioning;
  • Developed and maintained strategic relationships within and other departments and functional operations and interacts with business contacts;
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Up to 20% domestic travel required. Can live anywhere in the U.S. Up to 100% remote work allowed.


What Skills You Need

  • 2 years of experience in proficient in creating scripts to interface with AWS resources for monitoring usage metrics, automating routine processes, and generating notifications for system events or thresholds
  • 2 years of expertise in Amazon Web Services, including Elastic Container Service (ECS), Simple Storage Service (S3), Elasticsearch Service (ES), Lambda, Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), Simple Notification Service (SNS), and Simple Queue Service (SQS), with a focus on leveraging these tools for scalable and efficient cloud solutions
  • 2 years of experience in designing and building applications using JavaScript for server-side logic and real-time interactions, as well as Python for developing scalable backend services and automation scripts for data manipulation and analysis, with practical exposure to applying machine learning techniques in cloud data environments to build predictive models and enhance data-driven decision-making
  • 1 year of experience in designing and implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools such as Drone and GitHub Actions, ensuring streamlined and automated software delivery processes
  • 2 years of skilled in utilizing Docker for containerization and Terraform for automating infrastructure as code, provisioning, enabling efficient deployment, scaling, and management of cloud resources and environments
  • 1 year of experience in leveraging Elasticsearch for advanced search and analytics, and creating insightful visualizations and dashboards to analyze and present data effectively, enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency
  • 2 years of experience using statistical and analytical techniques to understand data patterns and inform strategic decisions to examine and interpret datasets to uncover insights, identify trends, and derive actionable conclusions
  • 1 year of experience in using Datadog to set up and manage monitoring solutions, analyze performance metrics, and gain real-time insights into application and infrastructure health, ensuring proactive issue detection and system optimization


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or Technology or related field plus 2 years related experience.
