Your Responsibilities
As a Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere in East Moline, IL, you will:
- Design workcenter and assembly line layouts to improve material flow and part presentation utilizing and analyzing AutoCAD;
- Plan, coordinate and perform Deere manufacturing engineering work;
- Establish routings, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs utilizing MPP;
- Operate in a team environment within either Deere's Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) or Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process (EOFP);
- Provide support and troubleshooting for current operations;
- Investigate, gather and analyze data and implement solutions;
- Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas;
- Apply electronic tools to perform engineering functions;
- Develop and implement plans to support lean manufacturing through the Deere Production System;
- Design operations layouts;
- Improve material flow and material presentation;
- Lead team studies related to capacity, productivity and efficiency;
- Lead analysis, development and implementation of new Deere manufacturing processes and technology;
- Analyze and make modifications to existing performance pay plans;
- Develop baseline data for new performance pay plans.
- Up to 10% domestic and international travel required.
What Skills You Need
- 3 years of experience in utilize Manufacturing Process Planner to develop assembly process documentation: operator method sheets, labor standards, line balancing, and parts/tooling assignments
- 3 years of experience in knowledge using line balancing applications to work through line balance changes and yearly line rate change forecasting
- 3 years of experience in use SAP to review and make changes to product BOM structure, understand product optionality, write purchase orders
- 3 years of experience with John Deere Assembly Assist Tool with history of setting up full stations and assembly lines
- 3 years of experience managing large capital projects > $2 million
- 3 years of experience in use CreoView and Windchill to manipulate product and tooling models and obtain information
- 3 years of experience with AutoCAD and ability to translate into facilities RFQ and execute large facilities changes
- 3 years of experience in understanding of smart torque tool selection and software with ability to program torque controllers, tooling, and integrate with MES
- 3 years of experience working with Continuous Improvement Pay Plans, updating and maintaining existing bases and supporting new ones
- 3 years of experience supporting parts and new design development with PFMEA/ PPAP/ DPAR/ DFMA
- 3 years of experience with fixture, gauge and lift device development. Able to create RFQ, equipment development, runoff and implementation
- 3 years of experience implementing process deviations and investigating root cause to support assembly issues namely working with heavy equipment assembly
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field plus 3 years related experience.
