When Barrera moved to LA to step into his role at Snap, he wasn’t sure what to expect. “In the beginning, I was so nervous [about] presenting ideas because I wanted to sound in the way that I sound in my native language,” he said. But those initial jitters eventually gave way to a sense of freedom that has empowered Barrera ever since. During his time at Snap, he has had the chance to share his voice in many ways, including through the company’s Big Idea Inclusion Series. Barrera shared that, with a few of his peers, he had the chance to share his experience with learning English as a second language, therefore inspiring others in the process. This experience highlights how he gets to show up to work every day as his authentic self.
