The U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade paved the way for state legislatures to pass laws affecting access to abortion. Some state governments have taken steps to protect patients’ rights, while others have become more restrictive. The shifting legal landscape around abortion access has prompted many businesses to seek out ways to support employees and their loved ones in connecting with care. The following companies that pay for abortion travel aim to provide financial resources so that team members and their loved ones are able to find reproductive health care, regardless of where they live.

Companies That Pay for Abortion Travel

Grand Studio offers customized design services, digital products and experiences to businesses in industries that include manufacturing, financial services, hospitality and healthcare. It offers its clients qualitative research, service design and UX/UI design services. The company says it provides its employees (including interns and contractors) and their dependents with all out-of-state travel costs for abortion care. 

 

Sojern’s digital marketing solutions give travel and hospitality businesses the tech capabilities to build targeted, data-driven campaigns that enable growth. To ensure “comprehensive healthcare” services remain accessible to all of its U.S. employees, the company offers a stipend they can use to cover flights, taxis, fuel and lodging if they need to travel because certain medical care isn’t available in their area.

 

Hims & Hers are twinned telehealth brands that serve gender-specific health care needs: hair loss, erectile dysfunction and mental health treatment for Hims; mental health and hair loss treatment for Hers. They also connect clients to practitioners for primary care. In response to the changing landscape of reproductive health in the United States, Hims & Hers now offers up to $6,000 in travel reimbursement and two weeks of leave for all employees and their partners who need to access reproductive care out of state.

 

Mozilla is a software company that makes browsers, apps, code and tools, including the Firefox browser. The company says it stands behind its progressive politics by offering travel benefits for abortion care to any employee who cannot access appropriate care within 75 miles of their home. Moreover, all Mozilla health care plans cover abortion care.

GoodRx is a healthtech company working to provide affordable prescription medications and telehealth services to patients through its website and mobile app. It has committed to reimbursing employees for the travel expenses they incur related to accessing abortions and other forms of reproductive health care. GoodRx also launched a Reproductive Health Center to connect people with information about care options.

 

Bungie is the video game company that initiated the Halo gaming franchise. In addition to the comprehensive benefits the company has always offered its team members, Bungie has also opted to extend travel reimbursements to employees and dependents who cannot access the reproductive health care of their choice in their home state. 

 

Zendesk offers a cloud-based customer experience platform that handles support, sales and service. The company’s benefits package provides employees with 15 days of paid leave for pregnancy loss, which includes abortion, and up to $3,000 annually toward out-of-state travel for reproductive care, such as abortion. These benefits cover employees, as well as their spouses and dependents.
