Job Description:

WGL Energy is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager to join our team.  The Data Center Business Development Manager who is passionate about identifying customer needs related to data centers, possesses the creativity to turn those needs into actionable ideas, and is analytical, organized, detail-oriented, curious, and proactive. This person will lead efforts to turn ideas into reality, providing analytical insights to justify business cases, and driving those ideas through to implementation. This role will focus on WGL Energy's data center initiatives, new business development, new product offerings, and business opportunities yielding sustained, profitable growth for WGL Energy.  This position reports to the Vice President of Growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify customer needs and pain points related to data centers.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance data center offerings.
  • Monitor market trends and technologies in data centers.
  • Collaborate with the WGL Energy team to develop and refine data center strategies.
  • Identify and develop partnerships focused on data centers and sustainability.
  • Lead the development of financial models for data center projects.
  • Create business case presentations for new data center initiatives.
  • Monitor the performance of existing data center products and recommend updates as needed.
  • Conduct research and generate insights on data center opportunities.
  • Drive new business development by identifying and pursuing new market opportunities.
  • Develop and launch new data center products and services.
  • Explore and capitalize on unregulated business opportunities in the data center sector.
  • Provide additional support on requested tasks, prioritize tasks, and communicate across the team.
  • Build and lead a team based on the opportunity sets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as finance, engineering, economics, or business.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in data centers, sustainability, or a similar role.
  • Experience with data center products and services.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Self-starter with a results-driven attitude.
  • Ability to work independently as a sole contributor, and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret market data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong business acumen and market awareness.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Creative mindset and passion for innovation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Location:

Preferred job location is Vienna, VA or Baltimore, MD.
