Onsite . This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis. This position is initially based in General Motors' Pontiac, Michigan engineering center, with a long-term plan to locate at the Warren Tech Center.
The Role
Our team is looking for a technician that is passionate about an all-electric future. In this role you will be part of a highly motivated team of individuals that will specialize in the safe and orderly shipping, receiving, crating, uncrating and preliminary testing of Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS) also known as EV battery packs in support of our RESS root cause team.
What You'll Do
• Safe and efficient shipping, receiving, storage, crating/uncrating, scheduling and root cause prep checks for high voltage EV battery assemblies and related components.
• Packaging and tracking of root cause component shipments to suppliers.
• Perform physical duties involving large and heavy high voltage batteries including rigging, movement, shipping, and disposal. Operation of forklifts and overhead crane equipment.
• Maintain accurate records on all shipments, receipts and work performed including data collected or analyzed.
• Actively participate and sustain workplace organization practices.
• Recommend revisions to process and procedures to improve safety and efficiency.
• Logistic support to Field Response Team deploys.
• Close Collaboration and teamwork with dock and RESS/module root cause teams
• Able to travel by ground/air if necessary.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
• Warehouse operational experience
• Competence with typical office computer applications, e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Team player
• Ability to travel, if necessary, by air or ground.
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle daily.
• Ability to adapt to increased roles and responsibilities in a growing organization.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
• Automotive or Electrical Technician, warehouse, or logistics experience
• Associate degree or Certificate(s) in applicable field and/or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge Electric Vehicle systems and safe work practices.
• Forklift certification.
• Crane and rigging certification.
• CFR49 Hazardous Material Certified.
