The Impact of a Vice President, Field FP&A at Coupa:


Coupa Software is seeking a dynamic, hands-on, and results-driven Vice President, Field FP&A to serve as the financial backbone for our customer-facing teams. This leader will be the go-to financial partner for sales, services, renewals, and customer support, driving financial discipline, strategic insight, and operational efficiency in a high-growth SaaS environment.


What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Business Partnering
  • Act as the primary financial advisor for sales, services, and customer success teams, ensuring financial alignment with business priorities
  • Develop a structured FP&A framework that enables effective resource planning, headcount management, and GTM financial support
  • Establish a tight interlock with Revenue Operations, Customer Success, and Field Leadership to drive operational effectiveness and budget adherence
  • Financial Planning & Field Performance Analytics
  • Own the end-to-end financial planning cycle for customer-facing functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling
  • Drive top-line analysis by closely monitoring revenue trends, churn, net revenue retention (NRR), and customer lifetime value (LTV)
  • Provide real-time reporting and analytics to field leadership, offering visibility into financial performance and key business drivers
  • Implement metrics-driven dashboards that track sales efficiency, services profitability, and customer health trends
  • Operational Excellence & Headcount Management
  • Lead resource planning and headcount management processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and cost optimization
  • Provide structured financial oversight of GTM functions, ensuring investments are aligned with business growth priorities
  • Support the development and execution of compensation frameworks for field teams, ensuring alignment with performance objectives and financial constraints
  • Collaborate with HR and GTM leaders to drive workforce planning initiatives, optimizing productivity and cost efficiency
  • Risk & Opportunity Management
  • Identify and proactively manage financial risks and opportunities within customer-facing operations
  • Establish governance and controls to ensure headcount planning, resource allocation, and incentive structures align with corporate objectives
  • Provide executive leadership with actionable insights into customer and market trends, informing strategic pivots
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Build and mentor a high-performing Field FP&A team that thrives in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment
  • Foster a culture of financial accountability and ownership within the sales and customer success organizations
  • Champion best practices in SaaS FP&A, predictive analytics, and revenue performance management

What You Will Bring to Coupa:

  • 10+ years of FP&A experience, preferably in enterprise SaaS or subscription-based businesses
  • Strong FP&A expertise with a track record of partnering with sales, services, and customer success leaders
  • Deep understanding of SaaS revenue models, including ARR, NRR, churn dynamics, and expansion strategies
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis
  • Proven ability to drive operational efficiencies, scale processes, and enhance profitability across field organizations
  • Hands-on experience with financial planning tools (Excel, Anaplan preferred) and CRM/sales analytics platforms (Salesforce, Tableau, Looker)
  • Strategic mindset with a bias for action, thriving in fast-paced, high-growth environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred
