Job Description:
Fidelity Investments is looking to hire a VP, AGC responsible for managing a large team of dedicated and experienced contract attorneys who support Fidelity in litigation, arbitration, regulatory investigations, employment matters, internal investigations, and business risk assessments. This position will report to Fidelity’s Head of Litigation and will be responsible for day-to-day management of the contract attorney team, including staffing new matters and escalations on existing matters. This position is expected to enhance protocols, best practices, templates, and reporting. This position must work closely with the Head of Litigation and the in-house Litigation team, partner with the in-house attorneys with subject matter expertise supporting Fidelity’s lines of business, work seamlessly with other litigation group support functions (e.g., Discovery and Paralegal teams), and collaborate with other support functions across Fidelity (including Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit, Communications, Investigations, etc.).
The Purpose of Your Role

As an attorney people manager:

onboards new attorneys

triages and manages work intake and alignment of work assignments to experience, qualifications, and interest

reviews workload and work distribution

monitors work product to ensure standardization, consistency, alignment with best practices, quality control and closure

day-to-day management (e.g., check-ins, professional development)

oversees training, adherence to Fidelity’s policies, workstation application access and data security

conducts performance reviews

Relationship manager between the team and other teams within Legal that the attorneys are a service provider to.

Develops and champions best practices that leverage strategic thinking, improving efficiency, and standardization of service delivery.

Change agent and leader for litigation tool and process evolution.

Trusted partner to the business as it navigates the compliance with an ever-evolving regulatory landscape and other internal business priorities and projects.

Works to enhance various reporting of matters to multiple stakeholders including the General Counsel and his direct reports, business leaders, finance, and other support functions

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Law degree required

Law firm litigation experience

In-house or government experience strongly preferred

Managerial and leadership experience (apart from managing attorneys on specific cases)

At Fidelity, our goal is for most people to work flexibly in a way that balances both personal and business needs with time onsite and offsite through what we’re calling 'Dynamic Working'. Most associates will have a hybrid schedule with a requirement to work onsite at a Fidelity work location for at least one week, all business days, every other week. Legal associates are expected to come into a Fidelity work location on off-weeks as needed for specific matters. These requirements are subject to change.
