Cambridge International Systems, Inc. has a full-time Technical Writer II opportunity available based in Charleston, SC. Qualified candidates for this job must possess a current DoD TS/SCI security clearance.

ROLE RESPONSIBILTIES 

• Write and edit technical reports, brochures, and/or manuals for internal documentation, customer reference, or publication, 

• Research and analyze available literature, 

• Verify copy with appropriate departments, 

• Coordinate production and distribution of materials. 

Required QUALIFICATIONS 

• Must possess an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance. 

• Must be proficient in using different technologies such as computers and other tools and systems pertinent to the position. 

• Experience: Four (4) years with a degree or seven (7) years with a HS diploma/GED in revising or writing standardized material reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications, 

• Assignments & Resources: Receives assignments and technical information from a supervisor or senior writer, may be provided notes or manuals containing operating procedures and details, 

• Technical Access: Able to access manufacturers' catalogs, drawings, and other data related to equipment operation, maintenance, and service, 

• Reference Materials: May work with blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequences, 

• Writing Standards: Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards of order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology, 

• Record Keeping: Maintains records and files of work and revisions, 

• Visual Materials: Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material, 

• Publication Assistance: Assists in laying out material for publication and arranges for typing, duplication, and distribution, 

• Specialized Writing: Capable of writing draft speeches, articles, public or employee relations releases, or specializing in writing materials related to work methods and procedures. 

• Education: Associate’s degree or High School Diploma/GED 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 

• In rare/some occasions, overnight travel may be required.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS 

• Cambridge International Systems complies with Temporary Duty Station (TDY)/Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) vaccination requirements. If this position requires OCONUS travel (listed above), Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil lists applicable current vaccination requirements by location. 

• Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. 

• Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc. 

• May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.
