What we're seeking:
The Technical Agronomist, specializing in sales enablement, serves as a partner to our Product and Sales teams in achieving maximum sales growth through product development and high-level customer engagement. This role leads projects focused on teaching and enabling that goal at a national level while supporting agronomy efforts locally.
The Technical Agronomist role is based remotely within the assigned territory and requires 30% +/- travel. The role reports to the Sr. Director, Agronomy. Ideal candidates are located near either Dallas, Texas or Little Rock, Arkansas.
Compensation Target
$106,000 to $118,000 base salary plus an annual bonus target of 10%
Bonuses are earned based on annual company and individual performance and are prorated based on start date.

Responsibilities
Core Agronomy Activities (67%)
- Provide support and knowledge of Sound products to sales team, growers and retailers
- Implement and manage trial protocols with trial partners / growers to assess efficacy on new product opportunities.
- Support efforts to diversify the company’s crop and product portfolio by identifying and vetting new product concepts.
- Maintain industry awareness regarding technical developments via networking, personal development and training Stay informed about emerging agricultural trends and technical advancements through networking, training, and professional development.
- Ensure grower retention, satisfaction and increased use of our Sound products by advising on use, in-season observations, and end-of-year evaluation.
- Help with agronomy support during planting and harvest seasons to ensure optimal placement of Sound products to maximize yield and minimize fertilizer waste.
Sales Enablement (33%)
External Focus:
- Quarterly webinars, in-person workshops, or virtual training modules to keep dealers updated on product performance, regional best practices, and emerging agronomic trends
- Deliver in-depth analysis of end-of-season results to evaluate product performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for future improvements.
- Champion content creation for Sound Advice video series.
- Create a Sound Certification program(s) for dealer/ agronomists to improve product placement understanding.
- Facilitate external training on applicable agronomy concepts with distributors and key growers to drive adoption of Sound products
- Establish a feedback system to collect dealer insights, track challenges and improve agronomic support
Internal Focus:
- Collaborate closely with sales, marketing and product teams around new product launches, data presentations and new product launches.
- Train sales team to utilize and sell Sound portfolio products as tools to replace synthetic fertilizer by implementing case studies and providing actionable insights.
- Assist marketing and sales directors in creating regionally focused sales and training decks for dealers/growers.
- Assist marketing and product in capturing customer/dealer testimonials
Targeted Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in agronomy and or field sales
- Strong understanding of crop profile and innovative agronomic practices within the region
- Demonstrated success in agronomic consultation in nutrient management and soil health
- Experience with providing in-person and digitally enabled group training sessions
- Experience in product testing, trial management, and evaluating product efficacy in real-world conditions
- Ability and excitement to critically analyze new ideas and supporting data and provide feedback and observations to all audience levelsPassion for agriculture and understanding of the ag inputs market including the biostimulants, biological, and soil health inputs market
- Skilled at working cross-functionally with R&D, sales, marketing, and regulatory teams
- Knowledge of digital tools (Climate FieldView, SMS, JD Ops, etc.) and passion for using them to increase frequency of and quality of engagement with customers
- Experience selling and supporting new product lines that create a new market, vs. established categories
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting, presenting, and collaborating with a remote team.
- Strong working knowledge of Google Suite, Salesforce and/or other CRM systems
- Capable of troubleshooting agronomic issues and providing actionable solutions that challenge status quo
