Supervisor, Large Generation Interconnections leads team of engineers responsible for coordinating the interconnection and modeling of large Generation Resources into the ERCOT System. Supports the development and maintenance of the interconnection process in response to adopted Protocol changes, new technologies, and ERCOT’s reliability needs. Interfaces with entities wishing to interconnect Generation Resources to the ERCOT system and communicates requirements. Supervises, mentors, and develops a professional staff and ensures team’s responsibilities are fulfilled. Provides information and expertise to upper management and may represent ERCOT in stakeholder groups and other external meetings.
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff
- Leads team responsible for coordinating the interconnection and modeling of large Generation Resources (10 MW and larger) into the ERCOT System
- Oversees review of ERCOT screening studies, Full Interconnection Study (FIS) scope and study approval, review of the Standard Generation Interconnection Agreement, protocol compliance review, development and approval of modeling data for all phases of the interconnection, support for Network Modeling for modeling the Generation Resource in the NMMS model, Commissioning Plan review and Part 1, 2, and 3 checklist completion and approval
- Interfaces with Market Participants and communicates ERCOT requirements
- Provides staff support to ROS working groups in development of planning databases (SSWG, SPWG, and DWG) and coordinate regular updates of these datasets
- Develops and maintains databases for Resource Entity modeling for existing and future resources to ensure consistency of similar data across multiple departments
- Supports development of new or revised models to reflect new technology or business processes
- Represents ERCOT in technical committees and subcommittees
- Provides staff support to ROS working groups in development of planning databases (SSWG, SPWG, and DWG) and coordinate regular updates of these datasets
- Represents ERCOT in state and national policy groups such as the North American Reliability Council (NERC) and the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB)
- May serve as expert witness on ERCOT generation interconnection matters
- Works proactively with upper management to plan and execute ERCOT’s mission and initiatives relating to generation interconnections
- Supervises a professional staff to accomplish the department’s mission
- Provides mentorship to and ensures development of professional staff
- Participates in development and administration of department budget and financial goals
- Assists in development and administration of department budget and financial goals
- Performs other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE
- Requires minimum 5 years job related work experience and 1 year in a leadership role preferred in excess of degree requirements. Minimum years of job-related experience can include time in leadership roles.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering or related field (Required)
- Master's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Preferred)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
CERTIFICATION
- PE Professional Engineer (Preferred)
WORK LOCATION – Taylor, TX:
- Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
- On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
- Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
